"Hi... I'm Laura..." my voice was shaking.
He had an cigarette in his mouth and was leaning his right arm on the bar. His light brown eyes were staring right through me and he was slowly sweeping away a thick brown curl of hair that was hiding a big part of his face.
"So did you like the music?"
His voice was even darker than it had been when he were singing.
"Yes it was amazing! You have a really good voice."
"Yeah I've heard that before!"
He took a step closer so I could feel him breathing at me. Then he turned around and walked away, and I was just standing there paralyzed from what just had happened.
He was gone for an hour and I thought for a moment that he had left. I just continued partying like every night and had a lot to drink because the thought of my grandmother didn't go away. But eventually it got really late and it felt like I was about to puke so I took my bag and was about to leave, but just when I was about to go out of the club I felt a strong hand on my shoulder.
"Are you alright?" It was him again.
"Not really I don't feel well, I have gotten a few more drinks than I can handle."
"Ooh okey, do you want me to take you home, it's late and you can't trust people these days?" He was now looking at me with a worried look.
"Well... okey!"The most important thing my mother has ever taught me is to never, and I mean never follow a stranger home. And that's something I have always tried to avoid, but it was something different with this man, I just couldn't say no and it wasn't like I was going home to him, he was just going to drive me home.
"My car is parked right outside, wait here I'm just gonna say goodbye to a few friends."
He disappeared again but after a few minutes he came back. He putted his arm around me and lead me to his car were he helped me get in and putted on my seatbelt.
"You don't have to do that, I'm not that drunk! I'm just a little bit dizzy... I can put on my own seatbelt, I'm not a child!" I have always hated to not being able to take care of myself.
"Your not a little drunk, you can't even walk correctly!"
He closed the door and got in on the driver seat.
"So were do you live?"
"A long way from the city... in a yellow house, with my parents... call my parents.. they know, I hope.. or not.. no, call them." I took up my phone from my bag and gave it to him. He took it and called my mother. After a few minutes he had gotten the address and started the engineer, and drove away. I was sitting there about to puke every other minute and he hummed to some song I never heard before. I think that I feel asleep because I woke up in my bed the next day because of my sister banging on the door.
"Laura!! LAURA!!!! Wake up!"
"No! Stop!" I was hiding under my white quilt when my sister stepped in.
"Hey who was that guy last night?? Laura, who was it?"
My head was banging and I just wanted to sleep. "Some guy who played at the club, I don't even know his name."
"Well dad wants to talk to you and you know how he is.."
She left the room and it didn't take long until my father stepped in.
"So... what was that Laura?" My dad crossed his arms.
"For the hundredth time dad, I'm not 15 anymore, you can't control me!"
"Laura I'm not angry at you, I'm worried, if it hadn't been for that young man you probably wouldn't have gotten home safely last night. Your drinking problem is getting worse!"After that morning my parents putted me in a program for alcoholics for ten months. That place was a real nightmare! I stopped drinking, yes, but it was hard. But my suicidal thoughts became worse and because I couldn't drink I starved my feelings away instead.
For awhile I forgot about him, the guy in the band, who I still didn't knew the name of. But after a few months during visiting hours, that I often didn't participate in, one of the nurses told me that I had a visitor. I didn't thought much about it, it was probably just someone in my family. But when I got there I saw him sitting on a bench reading some sort of home decoration magazine.
"Hey" I said with a low voice. "What are you doing here?"
He took out a cigarette from his pocket and placed it in his mouth, but put it back when a nurse stared angry at him.
"I went to your house a few months ago but you weren't there and your parents told me that you was just out shopping with a few friends. So I came back the next day and then every day for a few weeks, until your parents got so annoyed so they told me that you were here. So now I'm here! How are you?"
I was in shock. "You're here for me, why?"
"At first I just wanted to know if you were okey but then it kind of became an obsession to go to your house... so I felt like I should go here and visit you because I , apparently, couldn't forget about you before I knew you were okey."
I threw myself in his arms and started crying, and he was holding me tight until the nurses told us that the visiting hours were over.
"See you later Laura." He took a step back.
"Wait what's your name?"
"Damiano David." He looked at me a last time to then light a cigarette and walk away.
