Mel's

New York, Queens. It's a rough borough, but hey, it's home. As we walked along the crowded streets of Queens, I felt at peace. It's a weird feeling, finding love in the congested honking of horns and people surrounding your every step, and yet, I can't deny it.

Katie and I run across the busy street, darting in front of a honking taxi like usual. We just turn to each other and laugh. After walking a couple more blocks and laughing until our sides hurt, we make it to Mel's.

A while ago, Katie and I found a quaint little coffee shoppe tucked away from the loud streets. Only a few people know about it, but when you did, it was the only place you went. You see, not only was the coffee good, but they had fresh hand-made pastries, wonderful workers, and a beautiful shop. It was a nice place with hanging plants, bean bags, comfortable chairs, and a loft. It really was the best.

After ordering our drinks, and thanking Katie again for paying, we plopped down at our favorite bean bag chairs in the loft.

"Ok but y/n?" Katie started the conversation.

"Yes?"

"Austin Glenn seemed pretty friendly with you," she said, wiggling her eyebrows up and down.

I scoffed playfully and rolled my eyes. "Okay? Why does that matter?" I ask back.

"Well I think he likes you," she says, looking up at me while taking a sip of her coffee.

"No he doesn't!" I say, laughing. There was no way he does. Right?

"Well, do you like him?" She asks, enunciating the 'him'.

"No! I don't think of him that way at all! Besides, today was practically the only time we've talked. Plus, he's kinda known for only dating the prettiest girls, and I am definitely not one of them," I add, laughing as I sip on my drink.

"Okay, okay, I was just checking," she says, raising her eyebrows and putting her hands up in surrender.

Time skip brought to you by the frog in Tom Holland's mouth.

After spending the rest of the day together, it started to get dark, so I decided to go home. Mum was still working, and she wouldn't be home until late, so I didn't really have a curfew. It was just my own judgement.

The coffee shop is about 3/4 mile away from my house, so I had about a 20 min walk. At night, I tried to make it closer to 15. I don't know why I decided to go home as the sun was setting, because it gets dark quickly after that. And when it gets dark, the vultures descend.
