I tried to shake off the guilt, but it wouldn't work. I don't know what got over me, but the next thing I knew, I was walking after this guy. "Wait!" I yelled, starting to walk a little faster. I felt Adam's and his friends' eyes on me, as I began to run. Out of breath, I grabbed his shoulder and turned him around to see hurt in his eyes. We just stood in that position, staring into each others eyes for a few moments, before I realized what was going on. I parted my lips to talk, but no words came out. Why did this random guy make me feel so guilty? I barely knew him and he was making me feel this way. I didn't even know his name yet. "Listen, don't worry about it. Clearly, you're not interested in the movie date. It's not a problem" he said, shaking off my hand from his shoulder. I put on a confused face and remained speechless once again. "Alright..bye" he said, turning around to walk away. I wanted to stop him, but I couldn't move. I put on a confused look and shook my head, trying to shake away all these thoughts about him from my head. I looked up to see him turn his head & give me his perfect smile & I couldn't help but smile myself. What was going on?
I walked back to Adam and Jazzy. "What was all that about?" Adam asked me, a hint of jealousy in his voice. Adam was very possessive & since I was his girlfriend, I couldn't even talk to a guy without being questioned. "Nothing" I replied bluntly and turned to face Jazzy. I hadn't really spoken to her the entire day. "Sammy, can I talk to you for a sec?" She asked my, tugging at my arm. "Sure, be right back Adam" I said and followed Jazzy. "Not to freak you out or anything, but that new, cute guy's been staring at you since you got back. Is anything going on between you two?" She said, winking at me. Jazzy had been my best friend since we were little and she was one of the easiest people to talk to, as well as very understanding. "No, nothing's going on. He took my parking spot this morning and we chatted a bit, that's it" I replied to her, smiling. I didn't think I'd have feelings for this guy, but I couldn't get him off my mind. I turned to see those big, brown eyes staring at me from across the field. Everytime we looked into each others eyes, something odd happened. I couldn't get my eyes off his. I stared at his lips, as they curled into a smirk and he winked at me, before grabbing his backpack and heading back to class. I snapped back into reality and realized snack time was over and nobody else was on the field except me and Jazzy. "Yeah..nothing's going on.." She said sarcastically. We both laughed and headed to our next classes.
The day seemed to drag on, until it was finally last period, Theatre. I walked into class to see the guy sitting in my seat next to Jazzy, talking to her. I just ignored it and sat in a seat in the back of the room. "Students, please settle down", I heard my theatre teacher say, as everybody found their seats. "Alright class, we have a new student who just moved here from New York, Jake please stand up." So that's his name; Jake. He slowly stood up, pulling down his pants in the process, settling them just below his hip bones. He gave his classic smile and sat back down.
Ms. Rodriguez, my theatre teacher decided to give us a project with partners. I automatically went for Jazzy, when I heard Ms. Rodriguez call my name. I turned around, hoping she wouldn't say what I thought she would say. "Sammy, do me a favor sweetie. Do this project with Jake? Show him around a bit?" She said, with an innocent smile on her face. I turned around to see Jake sitting down, smirking at me. I nodded at Ms. Rodriguez, knowing this won't end well. "Hey partner" I heard behind me and turned around to see Jake smiling at me. I rolled my eyes and sat down next to him. Ms. Rodriguez got the class's attention again & explained the project to us. Each parter had to act out a play, which she provided us with. She was passing out scripts to each group, until Jake took one and a huge smirk spread across his face. My face filled with worry as I tried to look at the name of the play. "Jake! What play do we have?!" I yelled at him, frustrated that he wouldn't let me see. "I'm sorry, I believe my name is Noah now, Ms. Allie Calhoun." He said, laughing at me,dropping the script face-down on the table and getting up to leave, as the bell was ringing. My jaw dropped, recognizing those names. I picked up the packet slowly, regretfully, to read the two words that I was praying I wouldn't see. "The Notebook".
