Chapter 10

Sammy's POV

After Jazzy got ready, we just sat around for a while and caught up; we gossiped a little, ate some junk, had a bunch of laughs, and brought up good memories. We checked the clock and realized it was almost 9:45, so we decided to get going to Todd's party. The ride there was pretty crazy. We blasted the music in the car and danced and sung like lunatics. We parked close to Todd's house & as we were walking in, we continued yelling the lyrics to the song we were listening to earlier in the car, Love Drunk by Boys Like Girls.

"I used to be love drunk, but now I'm hungover. I love you forever, forever is over.."

I was trying to catch my breath from all the laughing as we walked into Todd's house.

I walked in smiling like an idiot, while the stench of alcohol burned my nose. God, I loved Jazzy. She always knew how to cheer me up. She made me completely forget why I was upset only a few hours ago! "I'll find you later" I heard Jazzy say as she was being pulled away by Todd. I continued smiling as I walked over to the table of drinks. I picked up a red plastic cup and filled it with beer to the rim. I decided to look around the house and the backyard, where most of the people were. There were at least 200 people here right now, barely giving me space to breathe. I went to the front yard for some fresh air, walking in on a few couples having intense make out sessions. Awkward.

I continued walking, until I found a secret little garden. I stood there in awe as I was surrounded by beautiful flowers & staring up into the vast 'ocean' of stars. After staying there alone for a while, I decided it was time to have some real fun. I giggled to myself as I made my way inside, getting another cup of beer & heading to the dancing area. 

I squeezed myself in between the big group of people, still holding the cup of beer in my hand. I felt a set of arms wrap around my waist and press its body against mine, swaying to the music. I turned around and saw an unfamiliar, yet very attractive boy standing only inches away from me. I smiled at him and continued dancing to the upbeat music filling my ears. After a few songs and intense dancing, I looked down to see my cup was empty. Seeing the sad face I had on, the unknown boy smiled as he dragged me over to the drink table. He filled up two shots of vodka. I grabbed one after the other, quickly chugging it down and feeling the burning sensation on my throat. I scrunched up my face at the taste and put down the shot glass, waiting for him to fill another for me. He laughed as he filled it up for me. "I'm Turner" he said in between laughs. What was so funny? "Sammy.." I said, taking the full shot glass from him and chugging it down again. "You're cute" he said, waiting for my reaction. I felt my cheeks grow hot as I smiled at him, looking down. I heard the melody of one of my favorite songs burst through the speakers and jumped up excitedly, tugging Turner to the dance floor with me.

"One day when the lights are glowing,I'll be in my castle golden. But until the gates are open, I just wanna feel this moment! Whoaahhh!" 

I sung along with the lyrics, swaying my hips to the music and against Turner. After a few more songs, I realized I was pretty hungry, so I headed over to the kitchen, hoping to find some food and more alcohol. Even though I drank quite alot and was already feeling dizzy, I wanted to have fun. Oh wow. I really am like my mother. 

I shook off the thought as I entered the kitchen. My eyes widened as I saw a bunch of brownies on the counter and stuffed one in my mouth. These brownies tasted way different than usual. Oh shit. These were hashbrownies.. but they tasted so good ! I took another one as I walked out of the kitchen, bumping into a familiar body. 

Jake's POV

I walked into Todd's house, knowing Sammy would be there with Jazzy. I had to make things straight with her. Even if that meant telling her the secret. I thought back to the stupid, alcohol filled night.

**FLASHBACK TO THE DAY AFTER SAMMY AND JAKE MET**

"We won the championships!" I heard Tyler say as he ran into my house, along with Todd and Landon, his other two football buddies. 

"Time to celebrate!" Todd said as he revealed two six packs of beer. I smiled at them as we sat around a table and drank. All we did was drink, drink. and drink some more. Along from the pointless laughing and goofing around,  it was mostly quiet, until Landon spoke up. " So Todd. Hooking up with that hot girl Jazzy huh?" he said, raising his eyebrows at him. Todd threw a pillow at him and began talking about how sweet and caring she was. What a little girl. We all laughed at him as he sat there, pretending to be upset. I was on my 3rd can of beer when I heard Todd speak up this time. "Jake don't even laugh ! I see what's going on between you and Sammy. Just wait till Adam finds out about this" he said as the rest of the boys laughed at his comment.  "C'mon dude. I just took her parking spot this morning and we talked a little, that's all. But I'm not saying that i can't hook up with her." I said, regretting the words as soon as they left my mouth. "I'm sorry. I think this smells like a .. bet?" I heard Tyler say, smirking at me. "No man, not in the mood" I said plainly. "Whatta pussy! I bet you a hundred bucks that you can't get in her pants before the end of the year!" Tyler added, waiting for my response. I felt anger churning inside of me. I stood up, and put my arm out, accepting his stupid challenge. A small smirk formed across my lips as he sat there, looking shocked. None of these guys really knew me that well yet, considering I was still new to this school. He tried to hide his shock by replacing it with a smirk as well as he stood up to shake my hand. "It's a bet" I said, shaking his hand. I sat down and opened another can of beer. What have I gotten myself into..

** END OF FLASHBACK**

I walked into Todd's house, trying to forget the memory. I saw a bunch of girls grinding up on guys. I scanned that crowd, until my eyes saw her. Sammy was pressed onto another guy. His face wasn't familiar but I already knew I didn't like him. Damn. She looked hot. I shook off my manly thoughts as I started walking towards her. She stopped dancing, gave the guy a kiss on the cheek, and headed for the kitchen. I felt a wave of jealousy take over  my body. This was my chance.
