Jakes POV
I tried to think of a million excuses in order for her not to find out what Adam was talking about, but all I could manage to do was open my mouth.
"Jake!" She yelled, hurt and betrayal clearly shown on her face. I didn't know if she trusted Adam yet, but I knew for a fact that she trusted him enough to believe that his comment about 'the truth' was actually true.
I shivered at the thought of it. I was so stupid, drunk. It was a huge mistake.
I was snapped out of my thoughts as I felt a sharp stinging on my right cheek.
"Get out" she said, raising her voice.
"Why?" I replied. "Jake, tell me or get the hell out of my house" she said, pointing towards the front door. I felt a rush of frustration take over my body.
"Why the hell do you believe anything that asshole says?" Because its true. "What if he was lying?" But he wasn't. I shook off the little voice in the back of my head. "If he was lying, you would've told me that by now Jake..I know there's something you're not telling me" she said, her voice a little calmer. "Whatever." I stated bluntly and walked out her front door, making no more comments or eye contact with her.
Sammy's POV
I grabbed my phone and put in the passcode angrily. I can't believe he was being like this right now. I clicked the phone app and clicked 1 to speed dial. It rung for what felt an eternity before I heard a familiar voice's mailbox.
"Hey it's Adam, leave me a message and ill call you back!" I groaned and quickly hung up. I decided to text him before I chickened out of the whole thing.
~To: Adam
We need to talk. Call me.
I pressed send and threw my phone on the other side of the couch. I was still trying to process everything that had happened in the past hour. I got knocked out after my ex boyfriend decided to attack my current (well, not so sure anymore) boyfriend; I got out of school early for the first time in 3 years; I was told about some secret, but Jake decided to completely keep it to himself and walk out on me. I rubbed my temples and let out another groan as I felt the couch vibrate. I anxiously unlocked my phone as I read his reply in my head.
~From: Adam
Won't accept talking over the phone. Lets meet up. Ill be over in 10?
I got a bit scared, due to some of the past events between us, but accepted his request to meet him at my house. Exactly 10 minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. Adam had always been on time. I smiled at the thought of our past relationship as I unlocked the front door and locked eyes with the great, handsome guy in front of me.
"Let's talk outside" I suggested and stepped outside, closing the door behind me. Adam nodded and asked me, "okay, so what's up? What did you need?". "I need you to tell me what 'the truth' is. Now." I said, a little too harshly. A smirk quickly formed on his face as he took a step forward me and leaned down a little. I felt his hot breath on my neck, sending shivers down my spine. Adam was always somewhat of a badass, but never to this degree. I liked it.. I missed it.
"Ask me again in a week" he whispered right next to my ear. He then moved his head and place a soft, lingering kiss on my cheek and stared intently into my eyes as he pulled away. "I miss this.." He said, motioning between the both of us. I wish I could say the same..but that night at the party flashed back into my mind, making the hairs on my arms stick up. As if he knew what I was thinking, he said "I was really drunk Sammy. I didn't mean to do any of that. I just didn't want to lose you.." His voice slowly trailed off as he stared into my eyes again. I don't know what got over me, but my arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him into a soft hug. As we pulled away, he lowered his hands onto my waist and pulled me in again, only this time, attaching our lips.
