Chapter 3

Two weeks later I had to go to summer band camp for my schools marching band. I was determined to get a spot and a solo in this year's marching show. It was a state year which means the pressure was even greater because this would have been my last chance to ever go to state. Marching bands can only go to state every three years. I went my freshman year and we didn't make it but I was determined to do better this year. I haven't talked to Madelyn or Keatyn for about a week. They helped me with my looks and my wardrobe but it was up to me to get notice. "First day back to Kambree High School" I said. I dreaded coming back here but I came anyways. When I first arrived I shall all the new freshman. They were all exited, nervous, and let's be honest a little out of shape. Seeing them brought back memories from when I was a freshman and my band big brother Colby. At the time I thought he was the coolest. He helped me and was nice to me and he was the only one besides Madelyn and Keatyn that talked to me. Colby was about 5'6, dark curly hair like mine. We kinda looked a like but I was taller and a little fatter my freshman year. Marching band made me lose all that weight. I saw a freshman in the back of the band hall all by himself. I decided to introduce myself to help of the first day gitters.  I thought this would be a good first step on changing and becoming more social like Kate and Tyler. I walked up to the freshman and I said " hello I'm Jase. What's your name? " thinking I would get an answer he told me to buzz off and then he walked away while eating  a piece of chocolate. I was going to tell him off but then I thought no,no eating chocolate during summer band was going to get to him. We are not allowed to eat like chocolate, drinking milk, or really any dairy products during the day because we could get sick from it because we are out in the sun for a long time. As he walked away I had a little laugh. Then I said " well it's your funeral. " We went out side to start the warm ups and everyone looked at me. I really didn't have that much attention before in my life. Madelyn and Keatyn came up to me and gave me a hug. "People are talking about how good you look " Keatyn said.  " Really I didn't notice, I said in a sarcastic tone." After band practice we are going to the mansion to have our annual first day back party. You are coming right?" Madelyn said. "You kidding I'm not going to miss that for the world" I said. Keatyn stared at me and smiled. "What? " I said.  "I'm proud of you, you wanted to change and do better and you are doing that." Keatyn said. I smiled and blushed a little. " I still have to convince my parents on letting me go to music school. " I said. "Oh yeah did you decide on which college you wanted to apply for? " Madelyn said. I told her that I wanted to go to Julliard in New York. "Julliard really?  That's really far and really hard to get into and expensive." They both said. I told them that I've made up my mind.  Keatyn look at me and said " I don't want you to get your hopes up. " I began to say " great you are sounding exactly like my parents. " Tenstion grew and Madelyn tried to change the subject back to the party. "By party it's just the three of us." I said . "Well, you know what they say, threes a party."Keatyn said.  We all left for the mansion ending a great first day back to band.
