I came to a sudden realization that I was back home and standing in the middle of the entrance. It was pitch black and the front door was open. Huh, weird. I remember being in an alley and I saw something... What was it again? I can't remember.... I walked deeper into the house and felt a sort of eerie vibe in the house. Where is everyone? Usually they're home. I went to my room and plopped down. I relaxed and slept, until I heard faint cries somewhere. I hear someone crying... I quickly got up and started to search the house.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Anyone there?"
I continued to search for the source of the cries, until I realized it was coming from the basement. I quickly lifted up the door to the basement and saw that my sister was huddled up crying.
"Amaya?" I called out.
Her tiny head moved to my direction and saw me. She was crying and was covered in blood.
"Mitsu-Chan!" She yelled as she stretched her arms out towards me.
I quickly pulled her up to an embrace and shut the basement door. Amaya was clinging onto me tightly and sobbed in my shoulder.
"What the heck happened?" I asked.
"Momma, and papa were attacked by a ghoul! He was scawwy and...... He threw me in the basement and killed them!" She said as she cried.
A ghoul came home? Was it the ghoul from before? The one in the alley? Then I shuddered at the other possibility. Was it me? I did black out for quite some time. I patted Amaya on her back and took her to the bathroom to clean up any blood she had on her face.
"Can you be a good girl and shower while I call the cops?" I asked her.
Amaya slowly nodded her head hesitantly. I smiled and ruffled her hair.
"Atta girl. Anyhow, we don't know if the ghoul is completely gone or will come back. So yell if you notice something strange or if he comes into the shower. Alright? I'll be sitting here guarding you while you shower." I said.
"Okay." She said.
She closed the door and I quickly went to get the house phone.... Until I realized that it was completely demolished. I grabbed my cell from my pocket and called the police.
"Hello? Is this the police?" I asked.
"Yes, what may seem to be the problem?"
"There was a ghoul attack at my home. I want to know if there can be an investigation on the murder of my parents."
"Whom is this calling?"
"Nagao Mitsuru."
"We'll be there shortly. Please do not clean any traces of the accident, as much as you want to. We'll need it for the investigation." He said.
"Alright. Thank you."
I hung up and Amaya came down the stairs.
"Mitsu-Chan! You lied! You said you would be guarding the other side of the door!" She said as she ran and began to hit me with her tiny fists.
I held the urge to laugh at how adorable she was being. As much as my parents hated me, Amaya never directly told me she hated me. She was actually pretty nice, unless my parents were around. Of course the voice that talked to me earlier was telling truth when he said that my parents loved Amaya more than me, but I can never find a true urge to hate her.
