Chapter 5: Taking Some Time Off

I silently and cautiously peered over to the kitchen. There was a huge clang and I ran over, ready to attack. I realized that no one was in the kitchen. Damn, did they already leave?

"Meow."

I sighed as I turned on the light. I saw a black cat scratching the window.

"Stupid cat." I grumbled as I opened the window.

The cat left the house and I sighed.

Well well Mitsuru. Kitty almost made you run for your money. The voice said chuckling.

I gritted my teeth. Go fuck yourself.

The voice laughed.

I can't. Not at least while my voice is in your mind.

I froze.

Hey voice, how is it that I'm a ghoul anyways?

Mmmmm. It probably has to do with the fact that the crazy doctor that kept you living by implanted my Kagune on you.

Uh... Kagune?

Hmm. This is going to be easy, The voice sarcastically added.

I unconsciously rolled my eyes.

Just spill it. I'll need to find out eventually.

Okay, okay. A Kagune is an organ that sort of like a protective muscle. It flows like water and It's a weapon. It's certainly solid. It looks nice and soft, but trust me, one slash from that puppy and a human is a goner. There are certain types of Kagune so listen up Mitsuru!

"I got it geez." I said aloud.

Okay! First is the Ukaku. It appears in the shoulder area and are like feathers. They're used for fast pace combat and more for short ranged offence. Downside is that they consume a lot of energy that they get sluggish in a dragged on battle.

Next is the Koukaku. Koukaku tend to have the kagune from the shoulder blade. They're Kagune can be in different forms like a Drill or a hammer, so watch out. Downside is that their Kagune is heavy, so their speed is a bit slower, but they still pack a hefty blow!

Then there's the Rinkaku. I think Binge Eater was one, not too sure...... Anyhow, their Kagune appears in the back waist area and have tentacle like form. They're good in brute strength, but their Kagune can break easily since it's softer.

Ahhh. And finally, Bikaku, which you and I are. We have a Kagune in our tailbone. It's good for Mid-range attacks and we tend to have better speed and durability. You can consider ourselves... A Trump card if you will. There's also some ghouls that cannibalize and get special Kagunes or some are a hybrid, but that's usually rare.

I have one question, how the hell do you know so much about ghouls? I asked. As much as someone researched, I'm sure there was no way a ghoul would get so much info on his own kind.

The voice gave a quick chuckle.

Trust me Mitsuru, I know because I use to kill ghouls.

Hu?!

You killed your own kind?! Why?

I could sense that they were smirking. Bastard!

I worked with the Doves.. er.. Investigators on an occassion, the only problem was that I wasn't suppose to eat humans. But like I told you Mitsuru, ghouls get driven to madness when they don't eat. I snapped and that's why Amon and that old sadist killed me in the alley. Though it's weird. They forgot to pick me up to make my Kagune a Quinque. I'm sure that old fart wouldn't forget that. It's strange...
