I was close to finishing my shift for the day. I saw that Amaya was happily chatting away with a girl named Hinami that recently moved into the second floor of the café. The café was busy as usual, but today had a more calmer atmosphere than usual. I stretched as I tried not to yawn.

"Tired Mitsuru?" Kaneki asked.

"Hm? Yeah, kinda. But I got nothing else to do but work here, so I can easily get that energy back." I said.

Kaneki smiled.

"We~ll, you could look up some colleges to go to once you graduate."

I sighed.

"I'm  more concerned in being able to financially sustain my sister and me first. Once she graduates from high school, then I can focus on other things." I said.

"Must be tough." He said.

"Yeah, but my sister is all that I have left."

I looked at Kaneki as he began to read a book.

"What's great about Takatsuki's books? I mean, I don't mean it in a bad way, but I'm curious."

Kaneki looked back up at me.

"I'm not exactly sure, but if you plan on reading Sen Takatsuki's work, I recommend Egg of the Black Goat. It's a really good book about a female serial killer dubbed the "Black Goat" and her son. Even though her son is disgusted with her ways, he slowly accepts he has the same impulses as his mother. It's also her seventh book, but it's very good."

"Wow, sounds brutal. But, I'm curious now. I'll probably go pick up a copy on my way home today, Amaya needs some new books for school anyways." I said.

"Amaya really likes reading." Kaneki said happily.

"Yeah, she always loves reading new books. She had a giant book case full of books, it was almost overflowing."

"Oh, and what happened then?"

I sighed.

"When my parents got murdered all the books got covered in blood. The dov-" I froze.

"Uh... Ghoul Investigators had to get rid of them when they cleaned up the house. I've been trying to buy Amaya at least three new books with every paycheck I get." I said.

"Huh, well I have a bunch of books at my apartment. She can borrow some of mine if she ever wants to read something new."

"Thanks Kaneki." I said.

"Mitsuru, you can go home now." Yoshimura said.

"Yes sir." I said.

I went up the second floor and got dressed in my usual clothes.

"Come on Amaya. We need to go home."

"But Mitsuru! I was having fun reading with Hinami-Chan!"

I sighed.

"Then I guess you don't want that book you've been pestering me about all week. Oh well." I said as I began to head out.

"Nooo! I want it! Mitsu-chan don't be mean!" Amaya said almost in tears.

"Then let's go. You can play with Hinami tomorrow okay?" I said.

"Okay.. Bye Hinami-Chan!" Amaya said.

"Bye Amaya-Chan!"

We went to the bookstore and I managed to get  copy of the book Kaneki had mentioned earlier, along with another book from Sen. Amaya happily got the book she wanted and one for school.
