The Aftermath - After National Championship

The Decision

As the match was over and everyone picked up their bottles, while  Takebi San and I were called by Tanaka Senpai and he looked dead serious right there. No time for the jokes and such.

Then he called Hinata, Kageyama, and Nishinoya Senpai when they finished drinking from their bottles and he asked a simple question that made my heartbeat go through the roof. 

He asked, "So how did our newbies did, according to you??" and all the members started looking at our faces which were still full of sweat because we did not get time to cloth the sweat or drink water and such.

"Have you played before, Itsuki?" Nishinoya Senpai asked me and I answered, "I have not played at the junior level and I got into Volleyball just a year ago." 

"So, you can say that it was one of your first matches outside of practice?" He added and I nodded. Then he gave a smile and told, "That was crazy good for your first match" and I blushed a little because being recognized by the person you admire is just a great feeling.

"Takebi was great too" Hinata Senpai exclaimed and I could not agree more, he was holding his ground against players who went to nationals. "Thanks" Takebi answered us with some shyness in his voice.

"So have you played before, Takebi??" Nishinoya Senpai asked the same question to Takebi San and he answered, "Yes, I played when I was in my junior high."

That was some shock to all of our Senpais. I was not really surprised by his answer because  I figured that he was playing so great that he might have played beforehand but Kageyama Senpai broke the everlasting silence and asked, "For how long??"

"I had played for all three players in my junior high." Takebi San answered with a straight face just like any normal person will do. The shock on the faces of our Senpai (except Hinata Senpai) was increasing. "How can I have never seen you play before?" Kageyama Senpai asked with his slightly annoyed face.

"He might have not gone high in the rankings" Nishinoya Senpai guessed without sounding rude because that is the best course of action. Takebi san gave a no and said, "Our school was the undisputed champion in our region."

"Region??" I added, trying to come into the conversation and Takebi San answered, "I am from Kamomedai" and now it all started making sense and now the shock on the faces of our seniors evaporated and they were ready for a bunch of questions. But as they were beginning to ask questions, Tanaka Senpai cut them out.

Tanaka San is proving to be quite reliable today for some reason.

I think I misjudged him at our first meeting. And in this Yachi San who had gone to bring her notebook returned and she asked, "So did you guys decide on who will be on the main lineup?"

"But how we do that without Coach Ukai? And where is he?" Tanaka San asked from Yachi San and I saw some visible fear emitting from Yachi San and she answered, "He is having a mild fever and that is why he is staying home."

"I guess we will take some flowers to his shop this evening." Hinata Senpai added with a bit of enthusiasm. And everyone nodded. "We can't decide about the big guy but I think we can decide about the small one, Right?" There came a familiar voice from the background and it was none other than Tsukishima Senpai.

"Hey, where have you been these couple of days?" Hinata Senpai exclaimed seeing Tsukishima Senpai and he answered, "I was at home resting, unlike some idiots I know."

Tsukishima Senpai does not hold back his punches it seems. He is damn savage. But before even these thoughts came to my mind, the first thought was, "He said this in a depressing tone which means bad news for me."

"I will not be playing in the main lineup, right?" I asked looking up at Tanaka Senpai and he did not say anything for a few seconds and then start, "See Itsuki..."

"I knew that from the very start, so don't worry about it," I said those words but I knew that some part of my heart was broken.  Nishinoya Senpai is already there, so why will they ever take me?? I knew that from the start and the smart decision would have been to join another school and I could lay there in the main lineup but I wanted to join Karasuno so here I am.

Takebi San looked at me with some sympathy in his eyes. He started, "Are you sad about it?" looking at me and he was asking this in front of everyone and I nodded unintentionally. My neck moved on its own it seemed.

"Don't feel sad about it." Hinata Senpai told me and as depressing the decision already was, more salt was put into my wound by Tsukishima Senpai, "I am feeling sad about you, but what did you even expect, you should have joined another school if you wanted to play in the main lineup so badly."

"Why are you such a jerk?" Nishinoya Senpai shouted in somewhat anger but I knew that whatever Tsukishima Senpai is saying is 100% correct.

And now I was left in doubt and thus my first (official) day was concluded in the Volleyball court and was it great? Not really, Was it bad?? Somewhat but I did expect this to happen and when it hit in reality, it is sad.

But I will move from it, won't I? I asked myself when I was going home and I thought, "Will this be a reason that I will give up on Voleyyball?" and these types of negative thoughts were surrounding my mind. 

But then a cheerful voice came from behind me and I recognized that voice way too well. It was Hinata Senpai and I thought, "Please not now. I don't want to talk to him right now."

He reached me and I was starting to say something but he cut me off and asked, "Do you want to go and meet, Coach? I brought some flowers for him to give him good luck to recover fast." I noticed now that he held 3 purple-colored flowers in his hand.

As I was not in the mood, I would have wanted to go to meet Coach but right now I just want to move on from the feeling that a meteorite fell from the space on my head. 

"No Senpai, not feeling to do it right now," I said with an unintentional depressed voice but Hinata Senpai again without listening to anything I said started moving downhill where Coach Ukai's shop is there.

So what do I even have. I started following him because Hinata Senpai sometimes can be the most selfish person on the earth.

This chapter was somewhat short and I know it but I think it was packed with amazing content (you decide), I just love writing this story so very very much.
