My dragon mate

Chapter 4

Levy P.O.V.

Mira called me into the guild saying that something was wrong making me run to the guild like a madwoman. Finally reaching it, I came in to find a crying Happy and a tension-filled room.

"What's wrong?" A couple of people turned towards me but none answered my question.

Mira finally spoke up. "Natsu has gone crazy. He attacked Happy." My eyes bugged out of my head and my mouth dropped down to my chest. The words she said were not computing. Natsu attack Happy? My mind was going a mile a minute thinking about how that could occur. Was it the mating season?

Rushing over to Happy I asked him what had happened.

Sniffling Happy replied. "W-we went on this job. Me and Natsu went on the roof to get the jump on them and left Lucy near the door. We had crashed in through the roof and this creepy guy was going to touch Lucy when Natsu yelled at him to stop." He started bawling just about making me miss what he had said next. "A-an-and then another guy stabbed Lucy from behind." I covered my mouth with my hands from the shock.

"Nooo. That can't be right. Where is she now? Is she ok?" Happy just kept crying so Mira stepped in to fill in the rest.

"Happy flew Lucy out of the building, but not before he saw that Natsu took on a partial dragon form. He's not sure what happened after he left but sometime later Lucy was grabbed from him and Happy was knocked out of the sky. We don't know what happened after that since Natsu had disappeared before Happy could chase after them." Then my suspicion was correct Natsu had started his mating season early. 

Going up to Happy I picked him up and held him to my chest. "Happy it wasn't your fault. Natsu is experiencing his first dragon season and right now. Any male even ones that aren't human are threats. Trust me he will not harm Lucy. He will return to be his old self once the season ends." At least that's what the book said.

"We should follow up on that job they took. Lucy will need healing. Wendy should probably be able to get past Natsu since she's female." Erza, Gray and Wendy all stood up and within the hour we were on our way to Pocodo. Gajeel also joined us once he heard that I was going somewhere potentially dangerous. The ride took longer than any of us wanted especially Gajeel, though when we finally reached the town it looked like it was bustling.

We all stood in front of the burnt building.

"Well, we know Natsu was here," Gray said and we all nodded.

"You may want to follow me. We searched through the building and found something you're going to want to see" The mayor of the town said while walking away towards the building across the street.

Inside the building were tables with lumps on them covered in cloth. I was confused about what we were supposed to see. I didn't see anything else besides the tables. It was when he uncovered them that I realized I was staring at burnt corpses.

"Oh my god." I had to look away. Gajeel came over pulling me into his chest. Wendy hid behind Erza not wanting to see the carnage either.

"Yes, we found these within the building. The whole dark guild is accounted for on these tables. When we found them all of their legs beside one guild member were cut off. Though the one that didn't have their legs torn off has a giant hole in their chest. Your friend really did some damage here." We all stared at the bodies with wide eyes. Natsu did this? This must've been what a dragon would do to protect or avenge its mate.

The old man left us alone telling us on the way out that he won't report the deaths of the guild members since they got rid of the problem. We just nodded our heads still staring at the bodies.

"I didn't think Salamander had it in him to kill anybody let alone 10. Is this the power of the season Levy?" Gajeel said looking at me with what I thought was worry. Did he think he would do this when it came time for him?

"From what I understand Natsu most likely went to these extremes because his mate was injured and threatened. This was his way of protecting his mate. Though when we do find Natsu everyone but Wendy and me should stay out of his way. Too many people and he'll see us as a threat."

"There is no way in hell that I am letting you anywhere near Salamander when he is like this," Gajeel growled. Smiling I touched his arm trying to calm him down.

"Lucy won't let anything happen to me. Besides Natsu won't attack us as long as we pose no threat to her." I could see his mind working trying to find a solution that would keep me away from danger. I could tell by the rumbling in his throat that he didn't find it.

"Fine, but I will be close enough that if you get into trouble, I will kick his ass." I grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuring him that would be ok. I mean I don't think Natsu would hurt us, but if he did there would be a war between the dragon slayers.
