It has been exactly eight years since Childe set foot in the abyss. To be honest, it wasn't the kind of place one would want to return to.

His majesty agreed, easily enough, that Childe should accompany Lumine to the abyss. It was her first wish and the eleventh knew very well that the wishes granted by the Tsaritsa were not eternal.

Ask for a little, she will always ask for more. Ask for a drop, she will ask for the ocean.

It was for this very reason that Childe wished to accompany Lumine, it was her first wish and in the end, deep inside, he still wanted her to enjoy it. She was broken into a million pieces, already.

Not only would Childe do such a good thing, but there was a chance, however small, that he could see Skirk again and the Archons knew how many questions he had to ask. It was killing two birds with one stone.

There was really no special way to get into the abyss except for this strange portal in the middle of a body of water in the northwest of Mondstadt. You just had to get up the courage to enter through the main door.

   That's what they did.

As they crossed the small steps that connected a small stone platform to the huge portal above, the black smoke reappeared and the voice rang in Lumine's mind. Childe also tinkled, her foul legacy recognized the place of its birth and wanted to get out of his body.

It was a huge mistake that they came here. They both knew it but there was no turning back.

Aether was probably here. Skirk was probably here.

The abyss was waiting for them.

--

"Master Diluc?" A man in his mid-thirties pounced on the claymore user, gasping for breath. "She's been spotted! They are at the entrance to the abyss, at Musk Reef! "

Diluc immediately turned around, there was a chance, a little one. She was so close.

"She is accompanied by the eleventh harbinger, Tartaglia. "

"This jerk. " Diluc was still in Liyue at that very moment. Sitting at a restaurant table, alone, he basically just wanted to leave his mind for a few hours. That was never enough. He had to act. He raised his head and talked to his employee again, who had come from so far away to tell him the news. "Tell Xiao, Ganyu and lady Ningguang. "

The man had already left and Diluc grabbed a few things and some food. He was prepared to that very moment.

He was missing one thing and one thing only, hope. A lot of hope.

--

Venti was sitting, as usual, atop his statue. The wind brought him disturbing news again. Zhongli probably knew too. The power and knowledge of an archon was infinite.
