A/N: pic of her boots on the side -------------->
HENRIETTA'S POV
My alarm blared through the comfortable silence that engulfed my room. My God, it's time to get up already? I turned on my side to see the digital clock on my nightstand read '7:00 AM' in bright green fluorescent numbers. The past few nights I've gotten no more than an hour of sleep, unfortunately including last night, and now I have to force myself out of bed. The 16 hour time difference between here and Washington gave me one hell of a jetlag.
I groaned as I tossed the covers off of my body. My room still wasn't completely packed so a lot of boxes were littering the floor, causing me to trip a few times.
God, I hate school days...
I went to the bathroom, took a quick shower and returned to my room wrapped in a towel. Australia surprisingly wasn't too hot (at the time), just the perfect weather to use a sweater as an accessory without getting overheated . I opened my closet and put on a baggy cardigan over a tank top, a flowy skirt that ended just below my knees, knee socks and my beat up leather boots. Everyone at my old school made fun of my fashion sense. My odd sense of style has always been one of the many factors that made me a complete and utter outcast. People ridiculed me for it on a constant and, to be honest, it really hurt, but I think it's more important to stay true to myself than to change to please society.
I combed my fingers through my short, dark hair in an attempt to free some of the strands that matted together while I was asleep. Once I looked partially presentable, I snatched my gameboy off of my bedside table and threw my bag over my shoulder. On the trip downstairs, I powered on my gameboy and resumed Pokemon fire red. I swear, this is like my 20th time playing this game and the Psychic gym gets harder every time.
Fuck those damn twins....
As I entered the kitchen, the smell of bacon frying on the stove immediately hit me. I glanced up from my gameboy to see my mom placing a full plate of bacon on the dining table. Yes.
"Morning, mom," I said as I directed my attention back to the small device in my hands, taking a seat in front of my food.
"Morning, sweetie!" she chirped, pushing curly strands of hair from her sweat drenched brow. I don't understand how she can even willingly get out of bed this early, let alone be so happy. Her scolding gaze met the device in my hand and I instantly knew what she was going to say.
"No electronics at the dining table," my mom and I said at the same time. "Yah, I know." I sighed as I reluctantly shut my gameboy and slid it into the front pocket of my bag. You would think after moving half way across the world that some things would change but nooooo.
A girl can't even play Pokemon and eat bacon at the same time around here.
I pushed a strip of bacon past my lips and moaned as the taste dissolved on my tongue. I have a bad habit of being sexually attracted to food sometimes, I mean, I legitimately have at least 3 foodgasms a day.
I doubt that's normal.
"Hurry and eat your food sweetie, you remember the way to school, right?" my mom glanced back at me from her position in front of the sink.
"Yes mom," I replied, devouring the last strip of bacon off of my plate. Wow, what a healthy breakfast.
The duration of the little time we've been in Australia, the only places we went are my new school to get my scedule sorted out and the supermarket. We only bought a few bottles of juice, bread, lunchmeats (including bacon) and this weird thing called vegemite which apparently is a popular condiment here that my mom is dying to try. I'm not dying to try it, though.
