Megan's POV
The smell of bacon woke me up. I sprinted up stairs to see my dad cooking breakfast, and my mom working on a puzzle; its tradition.
I ate a chocolate chip pancake, bacon, and an egg. I went downstairs and began putting on my ski clothes. Long johns, long socks, ski pants, gloves, fleece, ski coat, neck warmer, helmet, ski boots, goggles, and then by now I was soaked in sweat and ready to go hit the slopes. We walked out of the cabin into the 4 foot deep powder, and trudged our way through it to get to the top of a run. We clicked our skis on, wrapped our poles around our wrists, and began.
Skiing is a lot like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. However, it may take a few days before you get comfortable doing it again, since we only do it once a year. I've been skiing since I was 4. I'm still not as good as I wish I was.
The new cabin required us to ski down to the gondola, ride it up, and then ski through the village, and ski down to the chairlift. Ugh.
We got down to the gondola and took off our skis, waiting in line, while the workers loaded 8 on at a time. My dad and I got put on with 5 teenage boys, and one teenage girl. They looked like they were all friends, except for one of them, and it was a really awkward ride, no one talked. None of us could see each other because we all had on the rainbow mirrored lenses, and one of them broke the silence. "I like your skis, the tie-dye. It's cool. Never seen ones like that before," the one who didn't look like part of the group said quiet and slow.
"Uh, thanks. I like your jacket," I said complimenting his blue, black, and turquoise tribal print jacket. I also liked his snowboard, but I didn't want to compliment him two times in a row. it was time to get off of the gondola and we were getting off, and all the guys, my dad and the five boys, being gentlemen, let the other girl and I get off first. I almost fell, as the gondola was moving as you got off, and one of the teenage boys caught me, but not the one I was complimenting. This one had really dark, bushy, but cute eyebrows. "Thank you so much, I'm so clumsy," I said blushing but thank god he couldn't tell.
"No problem," he said standing me back up.
"Jackkkkk, come on! We got left behind!" The teenage girl yelled, sounding really annoying, obviously his girlfriend because he replied with, "Coming babe! I gotta run, see ya around."
"Bye thanks again!" I yelled back.
My dad pulled me aside and said, "What the hell was that about?"
"Dad, chill I tripped and he caught me. it's okay," I said laughing at how overprotective he was. He knew I was right, so he just huffed and we skied through the village, trying to avoid other skiers and snowboarders.
My dad wasn't being himself, he seemed really tired or sick or something. "Hey dad are you okay?" No response. "Dad?"
"Oh yeah I'm fine honey, but the conditions aren't looking too good for the rest of the day, so we might need to head in soon," he said after we had been skiing for 7 hours, not coming in for lunch. I was hungry.
We started making our way back to the cabin, but there was one problem; we didn't know how to get back.
Dad finally figured it out and we got to this 60 foot hill, and we were at the bottom. "Climb." my dad instructed.
"What? All the way up there? Oh my gosh," I said annoyed and out of breath.
"Yes. Now start climbing," my dad repeated. We got to the cabin finally, and my mom, because she didn't want to ski today, was making dinner; chicken quesadillas.
We ate, feeling all gross, then I skipped down stairs and took my shower. I washed my hair and body with coconut, almond, and cherry smelling products. I was really taking in the scent and the warmth of the water. It was all so relaxing. I hopped out of the shower, feeling refreshed, and put on my pajamas; leggings and my shirt saying "Go Pack!" it was for my school, our mascot is the Wolfpack, but everywhere I went everyone yelled at me saying, "Go Green Bay!"
I jogged upstairs to kiss my parents goodnight because I was super tired. My mom pulled me into the kitchen and said, "Your father and I are going grocery shopping tomorrow, so if you want to go out, you're going to have to go out by your self, but you don't have to." The corners of my mouth curved into a smile, and I nodded while walking back down the stairs, extremely excited that I get to go out by myself tomorrow.
I laid in bed playing trivia crack, and then scrolling through Instagram, most of it consisting of the Magcon boys, or fan pages for them. I locked my phone, plugging it into the charger on my night stand. I heard it vibrate before I got comfortable in my bed, and quickly fell asleep - happy.
