A/N: I'm starting to run out of ideas for chapters, so requests are very much welcome. AKA HELP ME I HAVE NO IDEAS!!! Or maybe I do know what I'm doing... Anyways, this may be my longest chapter yet!
Nuts proved to be a valuable friend. She could scout ahead to tell Eliza and Whisper where the ripest berries were. Plus, she knew the forest well. Whisper still grumbled about Nuts, but the two of them became reluctant friends.
Soon, life fell into a kind of normal. Well, until Eliza adopted a pegasus. Other than that, life stayed normal for another few months. Then, it was time for her biannual visit to the village. That was where the trouble started.
Ok, so I know Whisper can definitely come, he looks like a normal horse. I'm not too sure about Nuts, do villagers normally have sparrows flying beside them? I do know that Silvershine can't come, she's a pegasus, Eliza muttered half to herself.
Behind her, Silvershine stomped a silver hoof and grumbled, Yeah, I don't get to go anywhere just 'cuz I'm a pegasus. I bet Whisper wouldn't be able to go if he wasn't part horse.
He's Eliza's first friend. Of course she brings Whisper. Besides, one reason she doesn't bring you is because I remember you hated having that harness on, Nuts chided. Plus, even now, one basket of food is all you'll carry, she added. That was her special talent, insulting someone while still sounding logical. Silvershine on the other hand had a unexpectable temper.
Whisper who was listening, butted in and said, I'm pretty sure Eliza brings me just so someone can carry her stuff. I know that Eliza wants to bring you t-
Silvershine shook out her mane and interrupted, Nuh-uh. She brings you because you look normal. She said it like it was a bad thing. Which in her view it was.
Eliza stopped her muttering to face her animal friends who had just entered a epic staring contest, to announce, Whisper can come. Nuts can come as long as she keeps her wings folded in and doesn't fly. Silvershine can come as long as she keeps her wings folded in under the woven leaf horse blanket and her fur and hair is smeared with dirt.
DIRT?! MY WINGS UNDER A WOVEN LEAF HORSE BLANKET?! MY BEAUTIFUL FUR AND HAIR SMEARED WITH DIRT?! DIRTY DIRT?! Silvershine screeched. In her mind, that was the worst possible thing to ever happen. As pegasi were, she was quite proud of her beauty.
In the end, Silvershine agreed because that was her only chance of going to the village, but there was a argument over how much. Nuts had suggested a thin layer on some places and a thicker layer over other places, to give the look of a pinto. Once that problem had been smoothed over, it was time to go to the village.
A/N: A pinto is a horse with lighter or darker patches.
In the village...
Eliza led her two "horses" to a spot in the market with Nuts perched on her head. Soon enough, she got her first customer. It was a stranger. The stranger bought two bracelets made of Whisper's hair, two bracelets made of Silvershine's hair and one feather charm made of random feathers Eliza found on the forest floor.
The day went relatively smoothly. Eliza really wanted to chat with her friends, but with the villagers milling around her, she couldn't risk one of them hearing and jumping to the conclusion that she was a witch. Which actually happened. Just ask her Great-aunt Bertha who got thrown into a bonfire because she spoke to her chickadee.
Suddenly, a new customer came. He asked, "Have you heard of these people called Whisperers? They can speak to animals. Can I have one feather charm?"
Eliza narrowed her eyes to study him. He had a black cloak, which was suspicious, and a hat that covered his face. She carefully answered, "Yes, I have heard of them. I heard that they all got eaten by wolves. Here have a feather charm." She reached for a feather charm. As she turned to hand it to the stranger, she felt something hard hit her head and saw her friends all charge towards the stranger. Eliza managed to croak out, It's okay. You can find some way to rescue me later. Just run away now. The darkness reached for her, she tried to fight it, but it was so strong and she was so weak. She tried, but soon enough, everything faded into inky darkness.
A/N: Ha! I love torturing people with cliffhangers. You'll have to find out what happens in the next chapter, which I am writing as fast as I can. Plus, can you believe it? This chapter is like 811 words including all my author notes.
A little remember to vote comic.
me: Help Eliza by voting!
Eliza: How's that gonna help me?
me: Just... trust me. I'm the writer.
Vote, please!
