peter woke up. everything around him was white and bright, the opposite of what he'd remembered before he'd woken up.
he tried to sit up, but his stomach protested by letting him know through a sharp pain running through his body. he couldn't feel his left leg but he decided to come back to that.
he heard somewhat muffed voices around him as he tried to open his mouth to speak. nothing came out besides a rasped gasp. he touched his hand to his throat, which he now realized is bandaged.
he blinked a couple of times to clear his eyes. why was everything blurry?
he realized now he must be crying.
