I hear the doorbell ring right before the movie starts.

"SAVED BY THE BELL!" I scream jumping over the back of the couch and Liam bursts out laughing. I open the door, get the pizza and set it on the kitchen counter.

"Liam! Get your fat arse up! The pizza's here!" He comes out of the living room with a smirk on his face.

"My bum is not fat. If anyone's is, it's yours." He claimed sticking his tongue out.

"How would you know? Were you looking?" Redness creeps up onto his face.

"No! I-uh, I was-"

"Oh my god, Liam! I was just kidding!" I say interupting him, feeling my face also turn a bit pink.

Awkward silence.

"Um so, get your pizza! It's movie time!" I exclaim and he chuckles. Then we go back to the living room.

LIAM'S POV

As soon as the girl goes into the nursrey, I feel Darcey cling onto my arm.

"Do you want to shut it off?" I ask sincerely. She looks up at me with terror in her beautiful, bright blue eyes. I admit, when I met her for the first time, I had a rather big crush on her. However, she had no clue. I was just enchanted by her.

"No." She replies firmly. Then six seconds later, she's on my lap screaming bloody murder. I might've screamed a bit too.

"Oh, sorry." She blushes and gets off.

"It's ok," I whisper and she shivers, "Are you cold?"

"No. I'm fine." She smiles and I return it.

The rest of the movie she stays really close, and soon falls asleep, even though it's not that late. I gently pick her up and take her upstairs. I find her room and lay her down, her blond hair slightly messy. As I'm about to walk out I hear her say something.

"No, stay." She pats the space next to her softly. I smile and go lay down next to her, unsure of what to say.

"What's up?" I say stupidly, but she snickers.

"Not much. Is my dad home yet?" She asks looking into my eyes.

"No, not-" I start to say.

"Your eyes are pretty." She blurts, covering her mouth immediately while her face turns bright pink. I chuckle quietly.

"So are you." I say mentally facepalming myself and making her blush even more. She pulls up the covers to hide it.

"You don't mean it." She says but it sounds muffled.

"Yes I do!" I state quickly and pull the comforter off.

"Ok, whatever." She sticks her tongue out at me.

"Don't make me bite that." I chuckle and she puts it back and shoots me a death glare.

"I had fun tonight, Li." She tells me.

"Me too," I reply, "me too." All the sudden we hear a door shut and Darcey jumps up abruptly so I follow her out slowly.

"Dad! Where have you b- OW!"

She screams. I rush down the stairs too see what happened. When I get to the bottom, she's laying on the ground curled up in a ball, trembling. I sprint to her side.

"He's drunk." She mutters. I feel my fists clench.

"He hit you?" I ask softly, getting a nod in response. My jaw clenches, "Where is he now?"

"He left." I couldn't take the tears falling from her eyes.

"Does he do this often?" I ask remembering what he was like as a coach. He used to sometimes beat the athletes if they did something wrong. i shudder at the memory. Once again, I get a nod in response. I pick her up once again and take her back up to her room.

"Thanks, Li." She whispers, her face close mine.

"For what?" I ask innocently. She giggles.

"For everything." She lightly pecks my lips and I'm sure I'm grinning like the Chesire Cat. We start to talk about some random things. I ask her something I've been wondering about her life.

DARCEY'S POV

"Where's your mum?"

The dreaded question. I didn't want to tell him this quite yet. I bite my lip trying to hold back more tears. Liam must've sensed something was wrong. His strong arms snaked around me until I couldn't take it any more. I burst into millions of little tears.

"You can tell me when your ready to, love." I nod in response.

"So, it's already about 11. I better get going."

"Do you have to?" I say regretting it as soon as it left my mouth. This earns a cheeky smile from the brown-eyed boy.

"I don't have to, no."

"Well," I start wiping some tears away, "SLEEPOVER!" I shout with a devilish smile. Liam laughs a melodious laugh and sits back on the bed.

---------------------------------------------

"Favorite color?" Liam asks.

"Blue!" I respond.

"Well, that makes 20!" He yells.

"I'm bored!" I whine.

"Maybe we should just go to sleep, considering it's," Liam pauses to look at my clock, "two in the morning and we have training to do tomorrow."

"We?" I ask curiously.

"Yep! We're going to go run five miles tomorrow," he stops, "together."

"Sounds a lot better than my dad's idea of training." I chuckle and turn off the light.

"Goodnight, love." I hear his voice in the darkness say.

"Night, Liam." I reply, turning onto my side. After about three minutes, his arm sneaks around my waist. I felt what I haven't felt in a long time.

Safety, comfort, and happiness.
