Immortals and Guardians

Fear I could feel it seeping into my bones like ice. The rawness of the emotion dragging at my soul like a piece of glass.

"Do you see me?"

"What? Who are you?" I asked, the black darkness still surrounding me.

"Ah so you still do not remember, that's alright you will with time." The man let out a menacing, but familiar laugh.

My eyes fluttered open and I look around in confusion. Why am I lying in the snow outside? I look around me and see the workshop not far from me I quickly stand up and walk towards it.
My window is still open so I leap and grab hold of the window sill, I haul myself in and flop down on the bed.

knock knock knock

"Anna? Are you alright? It's time for your training." I heard North's voice come from the other side.

"Yeah I'll be out in a minute." I call back

"Okay meet me in the safe room when your ready."

"Okay!"

I quickly rush to the bathroom and fix myself up so it doesn't look like I slept half the night in the snow, then I slowly make my way out into the hallway and towards the room we were in yesterday. I entered through the weird magic door and emerged in the tropical safe room.

"So today I am going to teach you about the other Immortals ok?" North asked

I nodded and he proceeded.

"There are many things to protect in children, besides what myself, Jack, Tooth, Bunny, and Sandy protect, there are also those that protect other things such as nature, animals, and magic. Helena, also known as Mother Earth protects nature, and makes sure the Earth goes though its seasons on time." North pulled up a diagram of Helena, she had dark ebony skin and hair black as night, but she had the oddest eyes, one was forest green while the other was brown like the most healthiest bark of an evergreen tree.

"Helena works with Arianna, who protects wildlife, together they ensure the harmony of plants and animals with humans especially children." he showed me a picture of Arianna, she had the bluest eyes and the most beautiful russet coloured hair.

"Next we have Bellamy, otherwise know as Cupid, he protects the love in everyone, not just children. He also is in charge of making sure plans, follow through." In the picture Bellamy had bubblegum pink hair and purple eyes.

"Next is Griffith, he protects all the magic in the world and is responsible for creating Fairy Tales." He showed me a brunette man with shoulder length hair and blue-gray eyes.

"There is also the first Guardian Father Time or Octavius, he is responsible for moving the time forward but every so often he falls asleep and forgets to do his job, it of course goes by unnoticed by the mortals, then we have send someone to go wake him up." He had an old wrinkled face weathered by time, a balding head and bright blue eyes. He also had a long white beard that reached the ground.

"Then there are the Oldest Ones. The Sun and The Moon, they create the Immortals and choose the Guardians. The Moon circles the Earth which circles The Sun, in this continuous cycle, choosing those they deem worthy to continue their lineage of Immortals and Guardians." He showed me a picture of The Sun and The Moon circling around each other.

"Adara is one of the only Immortals chosen by The Sun. She, much like you actually spent time on The Sun and learned the ways of which her power, fire and sunlight, how it should be controlled and how the world worked, a few years ago she went missing, she left a note saying she was returning to The Sun but we asked Manny and he said she hadn't but not to worry, that she would return with time." He showed me a picture of a girl with fiery red hair and coal black eyes, but staring at her eyes I began to see a fire behind them.

North looked intently at my face, "Do you have any questions?"

"Well these are all good Immortals right? What about the bad ones? I mean there are some right?" North's face truned from bright and cheery to dark and gloomy.

"Yes, with light there will always be darkness." I kept watching him waiting for him to say more. He was still looking at my face when he said, "I think our lesson is done for today." He then got up and exited the room. I sat there looking at where he had been in disbelief. I silently got up and walked toward the workshop in a trance, I quickly maneuvered around the working yetis and out the window down into the snow, I kept walking until I came to a cliff. I walked until I was standing with my toes curled around the edge.

"So this is what you do in your spare time?" I turn around and see Jack there, standing in the snow leaning on his staff. I take in my surroundings and shrug. "That's all you can say about standing on the edge of a cliff?" I shrug again. Jack comes up off his staff and takes my hand, sparks run up and down my arm. "Want to meet someone with me?" I meet his gaze and give slight nod of my head, then we are flying through he air.
