The Moon's Princess

What Happened Next

"And what would that be?" I asked the man. He smiled widely.

"Death."  He vanished into thin air leaving only the faint sound of his laughter. Suddenly a scream came from inside the ballroom. I ran towards the balcony and flew up the stairs, and into the doors entering the ballroom. 

I ran the front of the room and kneeled down beside the figure of my father lying on the ground.   “Papa?” I asked shaking him.  

“Papa can you hear me?”  Tears rolled down my face. “Come back Papa I need you.” I nuzzled my head into his chest sobbing.  

I looked up to the sky and saw the full moon in the sky. “Please he needs to live not me, he needs to.   The moonlight filled the room and engulfed me and Papa in the white moonlight, I saw his eyes open and the light return to them. But I could also feel myself slipping away.  

“Anna?” He asked holding my now heavily weighted body in his arms  

“I love you Papa, move on in your life, love again. That is an order.” I closed my eyes and drifted away.   I felt like I was floating upwards towards the full pale moon, never stopping, never opening my eyes. Just drifting along in the sea of white light. Then all of a sudden I was placed gently on a rough surface. I spread my arms out wide and rubbed the soft soil on the ground. My eyes opened and straight ahead all I could see what a dark sky with millions of shining stars and a little green, blue and white planet not far from where I was standing.  

'What do I do now?’   I asked myself  

'You will stay here and help me until it is time for you to return to Earth, and fulfil your destiny.’ a man’s voice filled my head  

‘And when will that be?’  

‘When you are ready and the Earth is ready for you’              

Over the time I wandered this grey barren planet, and lived a castle made of pale white marble.  My hair turned white and eventually my eyes truned a light grey colour.  

I never met many people and when I did they always vanished by the next day. I thought a couple times I would not be returning to earth, but then one day he spoke again, he had not spoken to me in over 300 years.  

 ‘It is time you should return to Earth’   

'Why now?’ I asked curiously  

‘Someone is in need of your help. I have sent word to one of most trusted Guardians to be waiting for you when you arrive’  

‘And who will that be? What is-‘  

‘You ask too many questions child’ He said chuckling  

I smiled and nodded my head. 

'I want you to raise your arms and close your eye and envision blankets of snow, and a large man with a white beard, all in red.'

‘There your guide North will be waiting for you. He will help you master your powers and help you bring good into the world’  

I nodded my head and looked towards the Earth.  

I closed my eyes and imagined what he had told me.

Suddenly my feet landed in some cold white fluff on the ground.

‘snow’ I missed the snow from years on the moon.   

“Anna? Is this you?” A heavy Russian accent asks  

I turned and saw a man just like the description the moon gave me.  

“You are North?” I asked looking upon a man who seemed vaguely familiar.  

“Yes this is I. The Man in the Moon told me to meet you here at this exact moment.”  

I nodded “So what are we to do now?” I asked straightening my shoulders.

  “Well first we go back to the North Pole and then tomorrow we will start your training after you have settled in.”  

I nodded and he whistled. Down from the sky came a sleigh guided by flying reindeer. We climbed in and took off into the sky. After flying for a couple hours  I looked up saw the moon following us.  

“So what do you do?” I asked him

“I bring wonder to children. I am also known as Santa Clause and Saint Nick, but I prefer to be called North by my friends.”   

“I thought you looked familiar.” I said with a smile.

  “Just so you know there will be people waiting for us when we get to the North Pole.” North said not taking his eyes off the sky in front of us.  

“Oh….. like who?”

  “Well there will be Toothiana, the Tooth Fairy, also known as Tooth. The Sandman, also known as Sandy, and the Easter Bunny, his name is Bunnymund. And maybe Jack Frost will be there but he has been away for the past few days and we haven’t heard from him.”

  ‘Jack Frost’ the name brought shivers up and down my spine.

  “Oh ok.” We kept the silence until we were pulling into the side of a mountain and hopping out.  

“They will probably be in the main workshop.” I nodded and followed him up the stairs. As we entered there was furry Yeti’s running around and making toys along with a few small elves with bells on their head running around making a mess of things. We climbed into an elevator and we went all the way to the top.  

When we stepped out the first thing I noticed was a ginormous Globe in the enter of the room. It had a million little shining lights on it.   

“OOOOOOhhhhh is this her?” I woman’s voice squealed. I was suddenly entrapped in a hug but my mouth was opened wide and her fingers on my teeth.  

“Tooth hands out of mouth we talked about this.” North came to my rescue and the woman, Tooth flitted away.  

“Oh I’m sorry.”  She said embarrassed  

I smiled “It’s OK. I’m Anna, and you must be Tooth,” She nodded and I looked at the people next to her, “You must be Sandy,” The little golden man nodded, and I looked at the ginormous rabbit next to him, “You must be Bunnymund then.”   

“Yup that's me.” He said in an Australian accent. I giggled and smiled at all of them.  

“It’s so nice to talk to people I haven’t talked to anyone in over 300 years, well I did but it was always for a short time before they left and never returned.” They all smiled back at me.  

“Anna why don’t I show you to your room.” North suggested I looked over at him and nodded. then I followed him out the door into a long corridor. we went by a couple doors some had labels and some had weird designs on them. We stopped in front of a door that just had plain wood finish on and little stars carved into the wood.  

“Thank you, I think I can take it form here.” I smiled at North and he nodded heading back don the hall.   I took a deep breath and opened the door. Inside was all the mandatory necessities of a bedroom, a bed, a desk, and a couple lamps, there was a door on the far wall, and closet doors to my right. I opened the closet doors and it was bare.  

‘Well of course its bare you just got here’ I thought to myself. 

  I went over to the window seat in the far left corner of the room and looked out at the snow white mountain side. Then I left the beautiful scenery and went through the door on the other side of the bed. on the other sided was a ginormous bathroom.  

‘Well then I guess I’ll go lay down for a bit then’ I left the bathroom closing the door behind me. I went over to the bed and opened the dark blue covers, and slid under them.  

Tomorrow I start my training, which reminds me what did He mean by powers?
