First Day Of Training With North

I woke up with a start I had seen images of a great battle between good and evil. I wasn’t sure if it was the past, present or future.

I slowly sat up and got out of bed, after I was ready I went out into the hall following my instincts back to the busy workshop of North. 

I easily avoided the yeti’s as they floundered around the workshop, painting and crafting toys for the upcoming holiday season.

I quickly found an open window seat and sat down, I looked across the wide expanse of white snow.

“So how did you sleep?” North’s Russian accent came from behind me

“Very well, thank you.” I said not turning to face him

“Are you ready to start your training?” He asked I turned and nodded my head rising from my seat overlooking the outside world.

We walked down many more corridors until we came to a large grey door. It looked to be made from the hardest metal, but moved as though made from water.

“Well my dear, in you go.” North said gesturing to the door. I scanned it up and down.

“How can I get in when there is no door handle?” I asked

“Walk through, it will only let in those who are allowed to pass. It is a safe house.” He said with a smile.

I squared my shoulders with the door and walked forward closing my eyes. It felt as though I was walking though a thin layer of ice, it broke when I touched the surface, but after it was like water. Wind rushed all around me when I emerged on the other side, it was absolutely beautiful. There were trees of all different sorts all around me, the warm tropic air brushed my cheeks. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet smell of all the tropical flowers.

“So what you think? Nice eh?” North asked 

“It’s beautiful,” I smiled up at his large form “So where do we begin?” I asked 

“Well first we have to teach you the history of our world and all who live in it so you know who is friend and who is foe, then we will do some calming exercises to find your inner balance, then we will learn what your powers are and use them, strengthen them, and master them, well you will. I will just be your instructor.” He said leading me to the centre of the room. “Okay so we are going to start with just some general background knowledge.”

North looked at me with raised eyebrows and I nodded for him to continue. “Long ago there was only fear and darkness that cloaked the world, we call this The Dark Ages, for many years all the mortal human beings were plagued with nightmares. Created by The Boogey Man, also know as Pitch Black. The Man in The Moon called upon us, Tooth, Bunny, Sandy and Myself to bring Hope, Wonder, Dreams, and Memories of happier times back into the world. We are known as The Big Four, for 300 years we have collected many new Guardians, including Jack Frost our most recent Guardian. Each and every guardian protects something in all children, whether they are good or bad, naughty or nice, we protect them all.” He looked over to me and made sure I as paying attention, which I was. I was enraptured by the story of how all this came to be. “ About 2 years ago Pitch finally decided to strike back against us, He raised an army of black Nightmares and brought fear back into the hearts of children. If it wasn’t for Jack, we probably would have lost. Tomorrow I will teach you more about the other immortals in our world.” He looked over and smiled, “Now we shall begin our calming exercise.”

After a couple of slow breathing exercises we moved on to a meditation.

“Calm breaths, slow and even, in and out.” 

“So what will-“ North stopped talking when he looked over at me.

“What?” I asked looking around confused

“Your eyes” He said looking at them in awe

I went over to the little pool of water to the side of the room, my reflection stared back at me except my eyes were not their usual dark stormy grey, they were almost a bright white but still grey at the same time.

What does this mean? I asked in my head

You are learning he answered

"So as I was saying we will move on to some basic fighting techniques."North then showed me how to defend myself if someone came at me, or attacked me. I learned a bit more self defense then it was time to leave for the day.

I turned to North “Thank you for your time today North,“ I said with a smile, “Same time tomorrow?”

He nodded so I turned and left the room. I walked out the door only to be run into by Tooth.

“Wow where’s the fire?” 

“Sorry I was just coming to get you and North, something’s happened.” She said almost looking panicky but I think it was more excitement than anything.

“What’s happened?” North said coming out from behind me

“Jack is back.” and then she flew off again down the hallway to the main workshop.

“What?” North took off after her looking very confused.

I looked after both of them and walked behind them.

What is going on?

He is back. And a very important piece to your puzzle 

What? I asked confused
