When you read about villains in books, you don't really expect them to be actually real human people.
Oh boy was that wrong.
Very very wrong.

"Morning, Jacobs." Y/n spoke groggily as she sat down at a table across from the wide-eyed man.
The feeling and shock from yesterday wore hard on her, her mind still exploring the many possibilities as to what that could have been or who Karl could be. Why was he sent here?
Really, did she even know this man?
"So, when's our next adventure?" Karl murmured as he swirled his cereal with his spoon.
Y/n glanced down at her watch, inquiring it for the information the brunette boy asked. Yet, the watch didn't flash back. She raised a brow at her wrist, shrugging her shoulders.
"Not sure. I think we have today off."
"We get off days?" Karl's questioned.
"Uh, yeah? Why wouldn't we?" Y/n shot back, confused by Karl's question.
"I-I uh I don't know. I just thought we would be uh ya know, helping people-"
"We aren't superheroes, Karl." She shot back. "Is that what you think your purpose is here?"
"Purpose?" Karl asked.
Y/n was getting sick of the questions. Did Karl always ask a lot of questions? It really seemed that way.
"Yeah? Purpose. My parents had one, my grandparents had one, my brother had one, even the people we visit in time have a purpose."
Karl looked even more confused. His eyes darted over her, looking for further answers in her words. Had y/n not told him about the purpose log she kept?
"Here. I'll show you the purpose log I keep." She pulled a small purple book out of her pocket.
~BOOK OF PURPOSE~
Y/n flipped the page open, showing Karl the table of index.
"So, who do you want to learn about?" Y/n asked.
Karl's eyes seemed lighter, they seemed excited at the prospect.
"Uh what about Sapnap?"he eagerly asked.
"Alrighty." Y/n flipped a few pages, her fingers gliding across the pages gently.
SAPNAP

PURPOSE: Forever second. Never first."Ouch. That sucks..." Y/n commented. Karl's eyes looked sad, even disappointed to a degree.
"What about Quackity?" He asked.
QUACKITYHQ
———
PURPOSE: Never taken seriously. He will forever be underestimated."Hey, better than being forever second I suppose." Y/n reasoned. Karl's fist balled up more, his eyes dulling at the words on the page.
"Can I see the book?" Y/n nodded at his words, handing over her book.
GEORGE
———
PURPOSE: Will always mess up. He can never do the right thing at the end of the day.TECHNOBLADE
———
PURPOSE: Never the true villain. He will always be powerful, yet never the true threat.TUBBO
———
PURPOSE: Will never make all his friends happy.AWESAMDUDE
———
PURPOSE: Always protecting the ones who would never do the same for him.Karl noticed the tear drop on this page, yet the words consumed him too much to stop reading. As he turned the page, he noticed the lack of writing under the remaining names.
Y/N

As Karl rubbed his hand over the page, he could tell some words have been erased.DREAMWASTAKEN
———
KARL JACOBS
———
Why was his name there? Why would y/n write his name down? Did she think he had a purpose?"I think that's enough, Karl." Y/n said, gently snatching the book from him.
"What- Y/n why?"
"Because. You've read enough." She shot back, worry and embarrassment on her face.
Y/n started to walk away, only being stopped by Karl's words.
"Is it because my name is there?"
Y/n felt her breathing get heavy. She should have never shown him the book. How could she have been so foolish?
"You're only there because I was told by the watch to write you down."
"Why didn't you write down a purpose for me? What about you, do you know your purpose?"
"Karl stop. Please." Her voice grew desperate.
"No, tell me Y/n. Do we have a purpose? I need to know, you seem to know everything so why don't you know?" Karl disputed.
"Karl I don't know, I don't know my purpose I-"
"You see I think you're lying." Karl states firmly, crossing his arms.
"Don't you dare say that to me, Jacobs." Y/n shot back. Her voice shaking slightly.
Karl stopped, he took a step back and took in the girl in front of him.
"Y/n. Are you upset by the fact that you don't have a purpose? I'm sorry for-"
"No! No, Karl! I'm upset with the fact that I lost my purpose! I had one and then I lost it! I lost it on the mission before I met you and I-" she stopped, a tear rolled down her face.
"That's why my family is gone. They all found their purposes. I was supposed to leave and join them but-"
"But you lost it?" Karl asked delicately, stepping forward slightly. While he seemed confused, he felt a strong need to comfort the girl.
"But I lost it. I don't know how and I don't know why. All I know is that once you showed up all you've done is turn my world upside down and I don't- I don't know what I supposed to do." The tears flowed heavy now.
"Hey- hey. Listen." Karl held her by her shoulders. His comforting eyes trained on her face.
"I'll help you find it again."
"W-what?"
"Y/n." Karl lifted her eyes up to meet her. "I won't stop unto you find your purpose."
"But- I- wh-"
"I promise you, Y/n. I'll help you roll the end of time. Whatever it takes." He smiled.
"Whatever it takes?"
"Forever and always."
Forever and always...
His deep brown eyes bore into her soul it seemed. Their heads seemed to lean into each other as their gaze seemed unmovable. For a second, they flashed the same green they did the other day, yet it was quickly replaced again with his amber ones.
Y/n jolted back.
"We should get to work then." Y/n brushes herself off as she walked towards the library.
"Unless," she called, "unless you were bluffing?"
Karl smiled. "Whatever it takes, Y/n. Forever and always."
Whatever it takes, forever and always...
