Sophie's P.O.V
Sophie walked quickly through the halls of the hideout in search of Carter. She hasn't seen him since the whole cave mission and she knew that she needed to talk to him.
It had been a few days since she had reunited with the Neverseen and she had been in a horrible mood ever since.
She couldn't get over the fact that Keefe had betrayed her off of her mind— also Biana! Her mind couldn't help but wonder who else back at home had gone behind her back and done something too.
It just terrified her, making her want to stay as far away from all of them as she could.
Even if it meant staying with the Neverseen.
At least she had a chance to maybe get her biological parents back. After all, they were still trapped somewhere within these walls.
Sophie was about to turn around and try a different floor until she heard voices up ahead.
She slowed down and made sure not to make noise as she realized the voices were coming from around a corner.
Sophie got closer and peeked her head to see and realized it was Carter and Zach.
They were down the hall but Sophie had to still be careful that they didn't catch her.
She couldn't make out much of what they were saying but she could tell they were arguing and getting really frustrated.
At one point, Zach raised his voice and Sophie was able to hear him yell, "I know exactly why you're here! And I'm going to expose you to everyone! Show them who you truly are!"
"You wouldn't dare!" Carter yelled back. Sophie backed away, confused.
What were they talking about?
What did Zach find out about Carter?!
Before Sophie could think much more about it or even try to break the fight before it got violent, she heard Phoenix's voice call from behind her, "AY SOPHIE! Just the girl I'm looking for!"
Sophie spun around and smiled as she approached Pheonix, and away from the area Zach and Carter were.
"What's up," Sophie greeted, coming closer to her.
"Nothing, I wanted to show you some things I made," Pheonix said.
"Oh alright," Sophie agreed, following her.
But before they could walk much distance, Mai's voice sounded through the speakers set up in the halls, announcing that dinner was now.
"Ugh, I'll have to show you later," Phoenix grumbled, now changing the route to go to the dining hall.
Eventually, her and Pheonix arrived and everyone else was already seated at the table.
They did this a few times a month, to be able to check in and discuss plans.
Sophie and Pheonix quickly sat down next to each other, bringing attention to themselves.
"Hello everyone," Mai greeted. Everyone grumbled back a greeting in response.
"As you all know, the mission set a few days ago was a success. We have gained possession of the crystals we needed and the plan is set to keep moving," Mai told.
Her and Ace then made eye contact as if they were speaking to each other without saying a word.
Like they knew something the others didn't.
