[Assassination]

4 and a half years ago...

The boss lay in bed with a stage 3 brain cancer.  The Port Mafia hadn't had the slightest idea of what to do when he died, and it was pretty obvious that he was going to go soon.  Cancer was such a terrible disease, quickly taking over your body in ways that pain you in every direction.  A terrible way to go, and a horrid thing to happen to someone.

Running into the room, Port Mafia executive Osamu Dazai shut and closed the door hard behind him, making sure to quietly lock it.  The darkness of night crept into the room, but Dazai could use his other senses to move his way about.  The smell of death, the sound of strained breathing, and the dark aurora of passing lingering in the very fabric of the air.

Dazai made sure his feet weren't heard as he slowly strode over to the president's bed.  Taking out a knife, which the man barely ever held, he placed it over Mori's throat.
"Just as you assassinated your last boss, I will do the same and become the next leader of this organization..."
Dazai's eyes were void of all emotion as he whispered into the darkness, his voice never to be heard.
"Except, I have a reason."
The bandages on his arms shone in the darkness, despite their age, they were the only light colored thing in the room.
"This is for Odasaku."

Quickly, he slit the boss' throat open, exposing the sight of blood and the smell of metallic meat.  The crimson liquid spread over the president's bed where he was laying, and over the arms of the man who had killed him.  The boss was awake during this whole process, but because of his disease that deteriorated his brain, he wasn't able to move or say a word.  How Dazai got in would always be a secret, for no one ever knew how he got away with his stunts.

The door creaked open.  Dazai turned around nervously. I-I thought I locked the door?!

"Hey boss... sorry to wake you up but I think someone might have broken into the ventilation system.  Not to worry you or anything, but I just want to check on y-"
Looking up from the pictured scans in his hands, the young male talking looked up at Dazai who had bloodied hands.  The pictures dropped as Chuuya realized what had happened.

       "Y-you..."
The both of them were silent out of fear.
       "I-"
Chuuya stepped over the pictures on the floor and walked over to Dazai.  Attempting to grab Dazai's arm, his orange hair bounced on his shoulders as if to make the mood lighter.  To his surprise, the taller male backed off from Chuuya's arm of reach.

       "D-Don't come any nearer."
Dazai's voice was shaking as well as his hands as he pulled the knife up to eye level and held it towards Chuuya.

Chuuya lightly chuckled, but it was more of a reaction to fear.
      "Y-you wouldn't actually- I know you wouldn't."
Dazai fell silent for a moment, his mouth slightly opened as if he was going to say something but the words got caught in his throat.  His eyes looked down at the knife, then at his partner.
       "...right?  Dazai... answer me."
Dazai was silent once more, just staring at Chuuya with a glare.  A hint of emotion shacked at his eyes but he tried to shove them away.
"Do you seriously not trust me?!"

As if that triggered something, Dazai threw the knife at the window, and it stuck in there as if he had thrown a dart.  No cracks would be made in the bulletproof shield, but an ear breaking sound was heard as it smashed into the glass.
       Flustered, he turned to Chuuya.
"We have to go.  Now."

        "What do you mean?"
Chuuya backed away from the man who was reaching out towards him.

"I trusted you, cant you trust me?"
Dazai said with a serious glare.

Chuckling, Chuuya looked up at Dazai's frightened eyes.
"I don't think that's how that works, but fine."

-
Dazai grabbed Chuuya's arm and was running as fast as his legs would take him out of the boss' room. All Chuuya saw was a blur of tan overcoat and long brown hair flapping in his vision.  He had never seen Dazai like this: he had never seen him this desperate.  Their lungs burned as they ran though the floors of the Port Mafia building.  Since they were executives, no one questioned why they were running.  Especially the strangeness that normally happens between the Double Black team, no one really took it seriously.  Although, once they find the boss dead, they will instantly know who killed him.  Then what happened then?  So what, yes, Dazai killed him, but one of the executives would have to be the next leader, right?  Or maybe Dazai would just get executed.  He didn't know himself.

Once they made it out of the building and into the nearby cityscape, Dazai spoke with strained breaths.
"I- I regretted it the moment I did it.  Not remorse for taking a life, but realizing that I am not cut out for being a boss."

Looking over at Dazai, Chuuya panted as he thought confused.  Wasn't cut out for being a boss?  That's the dumbest shit I've heard all day...
"What do you mean?  Why did you kill him?  You could have just left."

Dazai forgot for a split second that Chuuya actually liked the boss, and was loyal to him.  No matter how much coaxing Dazai could do, there was no breaking the bond between the two.  It was obvious Chuuya was upset.
I was being selfish...
"..."
The words attempted to come out of Dazai's mouth.  Chuuya looked over to his open lips even with the darkness of night.
"Chuuya, I'm..."

"Spit it out."

"Chuuya, I'm sorry.  But we can't stay here.  We have to go somewhere.  I acted purely on emotion, telling myself that I could become the next leader out of spite for Mori. Maybe you can get away with staying at the Mafia, but I sure as hell can't."

Chuuya grabbed Dazai's arm just as he had done to Chuuya earlier.

"I hate saying this, but since the boss is gone, I will follow you to whatever scheme you are up to.  Does that mean I like it? No...  but I don't think we are going to be safe there anymore.  Even me."
His voice was cut off by gunshots ringing out in the distance.

Dazai grabbed Chuuya and started running out into the darkness, and more scarily, the unknown.
