She suddenly felt the urge to puke. After that came an urge to kill the demon with anything that came in reach. She wondered about this strange feeling. Why wasn't she afraid of the terrifyingly ugly thing in front of her?
The demon was quite small and skinny - about her arm's length. The black creature with deep red eyes was thrashing wildly in the cage, causing the cage to sway in her father's hand. It had two horns on its head and sharp spikes on its body. "Eww". Natasha was disgusted by the slimy stuff which kept oozing from the tips of the spikes.
She noticed her mom open a drawer and fetch a long, metal dagger.
"Wait, why is that dagger GLOWING?" she asked.
"This is an arder", her mom replied.
"A what now?"
"An arder is a special dagger used by the Cazadors to kill demons. It glows when a demon is around."
Well, that explained the pretty blue glow of the dagger - no wait, the 'arder'. "Cazadors surely have a weird naming issue", she thought.
Her mother gave her the dagger and she was in love with the weapon already. It was light but also heavy enough to kill stuff. And it fit perfectly in her hand. It hummed and the glow intensified, as if it was alive and ready for action.
"Okay. Can I please kill the demon?", she asked.
Her father's eyes widened a little, in surprise. Her mother on the other hand, smiled. Natasha did have a dark side and her parents knew about it too. She was a fan of horror movies. Her room had posters of gore stuff, which her mom disapproved. It wasn't that she didn't get scared, she did. But she liked the fear.
"That is why I gave you the arder", her Mom said. "Kill it".
She looked at her dad who gave an encouraging nod. She never expected that a day would come when her parents would be encouraging her to kill. "Funny day", she thought.
She aimed the arder at the demon through one of the gaps in the cage. Then with a quick, strong stab at its throat, she killed it.
There was a 'hiss' sound, the kind when you pour cold water in a hot pan. The pool of black gooey substance was the only remains of the demon left. Hot vapor was coming out from the cage. And a horrible smell.
"Okay. That's that", Natasha huffed, not knowing what else to say. She wiped the arder's blade to her t-shirt to make that baby clean and pretty. It had stopped glowing which made Natasha a little sad.
Just then, a little of the black, gooey demon remains spilled, from the cage, on the new carpet.
"Oh shit" was Natasha's and her Dad's reaction at the same time. Now, she could see vapor coming out from her mother's head.
"I TOLD YOU TO NOT BRING THE DEMON IN THE LIVING ROOM!!" her mom shouted. "You could have done it on the patio, OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!"
"Well.. um what if people saw? Huh. We don't want humans to see the demon, do we?", her Dad replied with faltering confidence.
"Humans can't SEE demons!" , her Mom raged. "Oh my new carpet."
"I made a mistake!, so what, even you make mistakes", (her dad was NOT going to win this.)
As the pleasant fight continued, Natasha finally thought to herself,
"I guess I actually am a Cazador."
