The Fate after 5 years

For 5 years there was no change in Gulf's condition. Even after years of treatment still Gulf showed no improvement in his condition. All these years Mew was patiently waiting for Gulf to come back to his life.  He  took care of him all these years.

Among the five years the first year was more troublesome. His body was very slow in responding to new medications.
After 3 years of treatment Gulf showed a little improvement. Everyones hopes went high.

But that didn't last.....

Now Gulf's condition was getting really weak day by day. Half of the month Gulf  would be in the hospital itself.

Even the doctors started loosing hope.

Everytime when Gulf's condition goes wrong Mew would collapse. His mental strength has degraded a lot during the last few years.

Gulf's parents were praying for some miracle to happen only to see their son with all his charms.

Gulf's face got a lot pale. His lips were dry. Mew was softly rubbing a cotton pad with some water to reduce the dryness of Gulf's face. It was then the nurse came and said that the doctor was calling him.

"May I come in doctor", Mew asked. He saw Gulf's parents with teary eyes.

" Mom, dad, what happened, what's wrong doctor?" Mew was curious and tensed.

"Mew, whatever I am going to say , please bear with it . I know how much you all have gone through, but the one who suffered more was Gulf him self. Whatever we are doing to him is more like a cruelty. He is getting a lot of internal infections which is bearly healing. I think we should stop punishing him." Doctor said.

"What are you saying doctor"?? Asked Mew.

"I am suggesting you for doing a mercy killing for Gulf, thats the only thing which we can do. Otherwise some miracle has to happen. But the more we wait, it will be more painful for you to watch him as the condition is getting weak." Doctor said.

"What..........Mew's eyes widened, what are you saying . Mom, dad .....he is saying to kill my Gulf....why are not saying anything??

Mew didn't get any respond. His teary face changed into an anger mode. He grabbed the doctors collar and shouted
" How dare you say something like that doctor, he is my husband, I won't allow anyone to kill him"...and he bursted into tears.

He fell on ground....feeling hard to breath...."it's just 5 years..I can wait for a whole lifetime just to see his smile at least for once" Mew was sobbing hard.

With that he run away to Gulf's room.  He quickly rushed to Gulf's bed and lay beside him. He softly hugged gulf and whispered to his ear

"Nobody is gonna hurt you again okay....shh...I am here ....I will save you...I won't let anyone take you away from me....you are mine right ...and I am yours . We promised eachother to hold on for eachother till our end right. So I will never leave you... I will be here by your side"....he silently sobbed on Gulf's shoulder.

Suddenly a hand patted on his shoulder .......

"Mew",.....

It was Gulf's dad.

"Son, I know that this is really hard for you. For you it's your husband but for us it's our only son. We could not see him suffering like this anymore. Atleast this is what we can do for him".

"No.... No matter what....I won't allow this" , said Mew.

" Mew, do you know what every mother wishes...they always wish to see their children happy. None of them wanted to see their child suffering. For Gulf he endured more than enough. I can no longer hurt my child like this. Let's free him from this sufferings Mew, please ......
I am begging you" .....said the mother. She was dropping all her strength. Her cries filled the room.

Mew was shuttered. His entire being was collapsing. He turned and sit by Gulf's side. Mew just took hold of Gulf's hand . He placed it in his palms. Carefully carressed it. Be brought to his mouth and gently placed a kiss.

" It was you dad who handed over this hands to me 5 years back and now .....how can I let go of this hand."

.....and at the very end Mew agreed.

For Gulf.....

To help him to be at ease......

To give him a little mercy.....

They decided to kill Gulf.
