Walking to the battlegrounds, my hands were clammy, my breaths were shacky. I was super nervous. Not because of fighting on camera. I have gotten used to that. But because of who I am fighting. I am up against Bakugou. He's a strong opponent. And a good fighter. I've seen him train. His toned, fit body almost moving in slow motion. I always felt my face heating up whenever I would watch him. God, he was hot.
Wait! What am I saying? He's an egotistical asshole. But still hot...............Fuck.
I wait at the doorway for my queue to enter the battlefield. The staff just finished cleaning up from the last fight and were quickly running off the battlefield. Once they were out of the arena, Present Mic immediately yelled into the PA system, and the guard at my doorway gave me permission to go into the stadium.
As soon as I take a step into the stadium, the crowd roars with excitement, like they have every other time people walk into the stadium. Trying to block out the screams, and Present Mic, I think about my, not so great plan to beat Bakugou. I would have to outsmart him. But how? He's way smarter than me.
"ARE YOU READY?!" Midnight exclaims as I stand in the ring. She raising her whip, the way she's done all the other fights.
No
I take a breath, before inhaling a large amount of air. Bakugou must have known what I was doing because he pointed his palms down towards the ground as if he was going to blast up and avoid my fire. But I saw that. I thought ahead. Instead of aiming directly at him, I aimed above him as subtly as possible.
As she brings her whip down at a fast pace, Midnight exclaims "FIGHT!" A buzzer goes off and the fight begins. I immediately blow my saved-up fire above Bakugou as planned, but what I didn't realize was that his hands were in the perfect position to blast him forward. And that is what he did. Instead of blasting himself up into the fire, he blasted himself towards me at a high speed. The second I saw what he was doing I stopped blowing fire and go to spread my wings to dodge him, however, I had to catch my breath for a moment. In that split moment, he sent continuous, heated explosions to me. The same way he did to Kirishima. I changed my arms to their dragon form and brought them in front of my face in an 'x' form, to block my face from the explosions.
Due to the heat, I felt myself feeling more and more awake. 'Does he know that heat wakes me up?' I thought confused trying to figure out what he was planning. Then I felt it. The feeling of drinking too much coffee, or eating too much sugar. 'He's doing this on purpose. There is a reason to this madness.' The fear starts to set in. 'I don't know how much of this heat I can take. before I crash.'
Due to the pressure, I take a step back to keep myself balanced. A quick glimpse of freedom crosses me when I notice all of behind him is free. Just like with Mina. So, as I did with Mina, I take my wings out, but I don't spread them. If I did, the wind pushing me back would send me out of bounds.
Keeping my wings steady, Bakugou must have noticed my wings because the blasts came faster, and he even started to yell louder but I couldn't understand because of how loud the blasts were. My ears felt like they were going to fall off. I really wanted them too, to be honest. But I kept a level head. Living with Enji really does teach you how to keep a level head, and how to push through pain.
I turn my wings 90 degrees so they were horizontal and push myself up higher than the top of the stadium. I felt my energy quickly drain faster than an i-phone battery. Bringing myself down quickly also made me feel tired. I felt like I was on a sugar crash.
I land and turn to Bakugou. I don't know what I am going to do. I feel like I am going to pass out. Bakugou turned around, calmly, as if he already knows what's going to happen. Whatever he thought was going to happen, it is happening.
