I was running in the woods. I don't remember how I even got there, but here I was being chased by some... thing. I was running out of breath, but I didn't wanna chance it. I kept going and going until I ended up on a road, almost getting run over by a blue Jeep. I waved my hands out in front me as the driver slammed the breaks, leaving an inch between me and the front of the car. I caught my breath, looking up to meet eyes with the driver who looked terrified. He quickly put the car in park, took off his seatbelt and ran out to me.

"I'm sorry I, uh, didn't see you... or you didn't see me? It-it doesn't matter, what are you doing in the middle of the road?" The guy said, sounding panicked.

"I was just... on a run." I said, nodding my head a bit. "I'm new here and I got lost."

"Well hi, New Here, I'm Stiles." He said with a cocky grin as he stuck his hand out.

"It's actually Skyla." I said, shaking his hand.

"Well, do you live anywhere nearby? I could give you a ride." He said, letting go of my hand to gesture towards his Jeep.

"Um, no thanks, I can just call a friend." I said, smiling a bit, trying not to be rude considering this was my first time meeting this kid. I started to walk away before I heard another door open, causing me to turn back in confusion.

"Sorry about him, he's not very good with women." The guy said, flashing his pearly whites. He had short black hair and the prettiest green eyes I had ever seen.

"It's fine, but I, uh, can walk home on my own. Thanks." I said, giving him a bit of a glare.

"No, please, it's the least we could do." He said, sounding sincere. "I'm Derek by the way." He continued, flashing me his beautiful smile once again.

My mom always warned me about stranger danger, but these guys didn't seem much older than me and they're both pretty hot. What's the worst that could happen?

"Fine." I said, moving past him to get in the back seat, the boys following me as they sat in the front. "I really hope you guys aren't murderers." I said slightly under my breath as I leaned into the seat.

"So, do you have a name?" Derek said, turning to me, his eyebrows raised.

"It's Skyla... take a right up here." I said, paying more attention to the windshield than the guy trying to speak with me. "Hey, uh, what were you guys doing on that road? I didn't see any houses or anything nearby."

"Could ask you the same thing, but well, there's not much else to do in this town besides driving late at night." Derek said, I just nodded my head, paying attention to the road.

"Take a left, please." I said. Wow, I didn't realize how far I had gotten with my run and the slight detour I took. The rest of the drive was pretty quiet aside from the slight boy chatter. "Thanks." I got out of the car and started heading towards my house.

"Wait a second!" Derek said as he got out of the car, he came up to me with my phone in his hand. "You forgot something." He dropped the object into my hand.

"Oh, thanks! I didn't even realize.." I put the phone in my pocket, grabbing my keys to unlock the door. I turned a bit, noticing Derek was still there and also staring at me. I quirked an eyebrow up at him.

"Sorry.. I, uh, I guess I'm not very good with women either." He said, clearing his throat after. "I kind of put my number in there. So, if you're ever trapped in the middle of the road again or need a date, call me." He continued, smiling at me before walking off to the Jeep.

I walked into the house, heading straight for the bathroom as I inspected the bite mark on my arm, it had already closed up and just looked like two dots. I was so caught up in running that I hadn't noticed I got bit. I looked to the left of the mirror, noticing my sister was standing behind me, causing me to jump.

"Maia? What are you doing up?" I said as I turned to her, dropping my arm.

"I couldn't sleep... are you hurt?" She asked, pointing at my arm.

"No, I'm fine, I just scratched my arm on a bush." I said as I walked over to her. "Let's get you to bed, come on." I grabbed her hand, taking her upstairs and tucking her in.

"Do you think the kids at my new school are gonna like me?" Maia asked out of nowhere.

"Of course they are! Just make sure you show them how awesome you are. Now, go to sleep, ok?" I said, smiling at my little sister. I kissed her forehead lightly before turning off her bedside lamp and walking into my own room.

I took off my shoes and changed into an oversized shirt before getting in bed. I opened my phone, seeing Derek's contact staring at me. Maybe I should text him sometime soon? He was really hot and I have no idea when the next time is that I'll see him. I closed out of the app, turned off my phone, and plugged it in before closing my eyes to drift off to sleep.
