The next period was boring because none of the others were in it, but after it was over I got a text from Scott telling me to meet him in some closet. Once I got out of class I saw him, Stiles, and Allison walking and quickly followed them inside of it.
"Derek's outside waiting for Lydia." Scott said as I closed the door behind us.
"Why is he waiting for Lydia?" I asked, looking around at the three panicked.
"He might think she's the kanima." Scott said.
"You think he's waiting to kill her?" Allison asked seeming equally as panicked as I was.
"Yes, especially after what happened after the pool." Scott said, causing me to recollect my memories of last night.
"It's not her." Stiles said.
"Stiles, she didn't pass the test, man, nothing happened."
"No, he's right! It's not her. I saw her sitting in her car right before I went paralyzed." I said, causing the others to all look at me with a bit of relief.
"You can tell Derek that and he'll believe you, right?" Stiles asked, not sounding as sarcastic as he normally does.
"Most likely." I said, looking around at the others.
"Why would he most likely believe you?" Scott asked me, his eyes a bit wide.
"I, um, I'm kind of seeing him."
"Great! Then you'll be a good distraction and you'll hopefully be able to at least convince Derek while one of us can protect Lydia from the others." Scott said, seeming a bit confused at first.
"You really think he'll believe you?" Allison asked me.
"I-I think so... I mean, I'm pretty sure he trusts me."
"And if he doesn't and anything happens, you guys let me handle it, okay?" Scott said.
"What does that mean?" Allison and I said at the same time.

Scott for some reason made me hide behind the bleachers until he got Derek to come to the field. Scott and the dude from Derek's pack were having a conversation which seemed like it was getting us nowhere until Scott tackled him onto the ground and I saw Derek running towards them.
"She failed the test." Derek said, startling Scott as he looked back up.
"Yeah, which doesn't prove anything. Lydia's different."
"I know, at night she turns into a homicidal walking snake." I took this as my cue to get out of my hiding spot, earning attention from the guy from Derek's pack. As I walked closer I saw his eyes glow and Derek finally noticed me. I saw as he put his arm out in front of the guy, telling him to back off.
"Derek, I need you to trust me." I said as I walked closer to him until I was standing directly in front of him. "Look me in my eyes and tell me you trust me."
"I trust you, Skyla." Derek said as he stared directly into my eyes.
"Lydia's not the kanima. I saw her in her car a few steps away from me the second I became paralyzed." I saw the mood in Derek's eyes change a bit before he went back to his usual hard stare.
"I trust you, but how am I supposed to believe you." He said, causing me to stare at him in disbelief.
"We're not going to let you kill her." Scott said, causing us to both look at him.
"Who said I was gonna do it?" As soon as Derek said that, Scott started to run towards the school, but the other guy stopped him so, I took this as an opportunity to make my own run for it.
I tried my best to use my super-speed, which Derek had already taught me how to use, but I was too weak. I fell onto the grass, my entire body aching as I saw Derek come towards me and my vision went blurry before everything went black.
I woke up in a hospital bed, instantly noticing someone was holding my hand, I turned and saw Derek looking off in the distance. I admired him for a moment before clearing my throat, causing him to look at me.
"Skyla, you- you really scared me." He said before dropping my hand to grab something. "Here. Drink this." He held out a cup in front of me and after I took the first sip I realized it was blood. I wanted to spit it out, but it made me feel less weak so, I took a few more sips until I felt like myself again.
"Can I have an actual drink too?"
"Maybe we can grab one once you get discharged." Derek suggested, I smiled back at him and grabbed his hand.
"I would like that."
It wasn't too long before I got discharged and Derek took me to this really cute place that was a bar/restaurant.
"Isn't this a bit immoral? I mean... your friends are all trying to kill my new best friend while we're just on a date like nothing's happening." I said as I flipped through the menu, trying to figure out what I wanted.
"First of all; they're not my friends, they're my pack mates and second of all; I actually did believe you earlier. So, if they're killing a kanima, it's most likely not Lydia." He looked back and forth from me to the menu, almost as if he thought I was gonna disappear or something. "Also, if you wanna get any alcohol, we can't get drunk."
"That's fine. I don't drink much anyways." It looked like Derek was about to say something before a waitress came up to our table.
"What can I get you guys started with today?" The waitress said a bit too cheerfully for my liking as she pulled out her notepad and pen, turning to Derek first.
"A coke." The lady scribbled it down before turning to me.
"Just a water will be fine." She quickly wrote it down before smiling at us and walking off. Derek grabbed my hand on top of the table and he was about to open his mouth to say something until I heard my phone ring. I used my free hand to get my phone out of my bag, seeing Stiles' contact on the screen. I sighed before answering.
"Yes, Stiles?"
"Skyla! Where the hell are you?! Do you also happen to know where Derek is?"
"I'm with Derek... we were just grabbing a drink." I said, sounding a bit more annoyed then I meant to.
"Can you cancel the drink? Because Derek's pack is trying to kill Lydia- you weren't able to convince him."
"I-," I looked up at Derek for a second, who was just staring me down with his eyes wide open. "Fine. We'll be there." I hung up and sighed before looking back at Derek, who's grip had tightened on my hand and his jaw was tighter than normal.
