"so you and Ethan will have a study date?" Rebecca asked curiously while closing her book and leaning on it after two or three hours of studying.
"It's not a date Rebecca" Amelia continued working on her Herbology essay. Her eyes slowly moved over the words she wrote, her handwriting neat and flawless.
"Right. Don't try to fool me, Lia. That boy fancies you, don't you see it?"
Amelia took a breath before putting down her quill. She turned her head towards her friend, having a serious look on her face. Rebecca tilted her head with a slight smile, as she was confident about what she said seconds ago.
"He needs help with divination, that's all."
Rebecca scowled and looked back to her parchament, continuining her studying, slowly getting tired of it.
Amelia cared about Ethan, she truly did, and she knew he cared about her too, but she couldn't believe he could fancy her. She never thought of that. Their friendship meant very much to her, but this was something different. Is that even possible?
Amelia shook her head and decided not to think about this. She was supposed to meet with Ethan at 5 pm, which was in a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, in the Slytherin common room, the boys were sitting on the couch and talking. The fire silently cracked, the green flame slightly lightened the room. Avery had one leg over his knee, leaning back on the couch, with his hands twirled behind his head. He taunted Ethan about the girl.
"stop it, Cass, you are not funny"
"come on mate, just admit it."
Ethan looked at Tom, who was sitting beside him, twirling his wand between his long, thin fingers, seeming unbothered by the conversation around him. Rosier hoped Tom will tell the boy to be quiet, as everyone obeyed him, but he didn't seem like he would do it.
"Honestly, she is pretty. And she is smart. Why wouldn't you ask her to accompany you in Hogsmeade in two weeks?" Abraxas spoke, sounding more serious than his friend. He was interested in helping the boy. The students were supposed to visit Hogsmeade by the end of October, which seemed like a perfect event for the boy.
"You think she would accept?"
"Absolutely. Why wouldn't she?"
Tom took a deep breath, staring at the fireplace before him. He knew nothing about feelings or talks about girls. In all honesty, he wasn't even interested much. This talk made him somewhat uncomfortable. His skin crawled and his mind felt heavy. Not just that the boys were loud, but they were obsessed with talking about some girl. That seems pathetic. Still, he couldn't show how he felt about this.
"Tom? What do you think about this?" Lestrange turned his head towards the boy, trying to add him into the conversation. Tom swallowed the irritation and raised his head, his eyes giving the familiar, innocent look, with a slight smile on his face.
"Surely, that's a wonderful idea" he stood up. "now if you don't mind, I would like to take a walk" Tom spat in his soothing tone. He was for sure, the last person to be asked for love advice.
Avery and Icarus looked at each other, with an unpleased face, Lestrange regretting asking anything.
"Thank you Riddle, that was quite helpful" Ethan mumbled with annoyance in his tone "very helpful" not wanting Tom to hear the last part, but he did.
He turned his head towards Ethan and walked towards him, having a threatening look in his eyes. As he was getting closer to the boy, the rage was building in Ethan. Tom's grip on his wand tightened as he stared at the boy before him.
