slurs aren't mentioned here bc they're obviously horrible
term: queer
preferred term: queer's fine as long as you don't use it in the wrong context
why it's rude: look queer is ok to use which is why i didn't censor it. BUT queer means "crazy" or "unusual" and the community just claimed this, but it used to be a slur. be cautious using "queer" in front of lgbtq people pretty much older than gen zterm: homosexual
preferred term: gay/lesbian
why it's rude: being gay used to be an illness, and so they called gay people "homosexuals". literally only homophobes use this so please don't. also saying it ironically or jokingly is fine as long as you're queerterm: homo
preferred term: gay/lesbian
why it's rude: same as "homosexual"term: sexual preference
preferred term: sexual orientation
why it's rude: key word: preference. you can't choose who you have sexual attraction towardsterm: gay lifestyle/homosexual lifestyle
preferred term: gay lives/lesbian lives/gay and lesbian lives
why it's rude: it's just rude man... just don't use itterm: special rights
preferred term: equal rights/equality
why it's rude: WE DON'T HAVE SPECIAL RIGHTS IT'S FRUSTRATING WHEN PEOPLE SAY THISif you have any more terms, please feel free to comment them
