Advice on Plot Twists  -  Okay so a plot twist or two is fine. But when you're trying to put in more than that we just get irritated. We start feeling like this whole thing is just a long drawn out mess and we get tired of it and give up. We lose hope. We start to feel like we're never going to find out what actually happened in the story that we came here to read.

In 95% of these stories that have multiple plot twists we start feeling like you're lying to us, like you're just dragging this out so you can say you have five thousand chapters and you don't actually know what happens in the story. If you want to tell 10 different stories, then write ten different stories. Just Tell THE Story! The story we came in here to read.

We are OK with sequels if you want to write more scenes or acts or have different plots. But don't highjack the story we're reading. We'd rather read 5 books with 20 chapters each, than one book with 100 that don't make any sense.

Pick a story and stick to it until the end.

But when you're trying to put in more than that we just get irritated. We start feeling like this whole thing is just a long drawn out mess and we get tired of it and give up. We lose hope. We start to feel like we're never going to find out what actually happened in the story that we came here to read.

Don't change the whole plot after a few chapters, talk about something that has nothing to do with the story we came here to read for a few chapters, then go off on some tangent for a few chapters, then do a few flashbacks of unrelated stuff, and then not get back on topic until the 10th chapter. That bugs us. Seriously.

Tell the story we came here to read.

Unless you're a next level author, which most of you aren't, yet.  You don't have the skill to do 10 different plot lines at once and YOU ARE LOSING READERS by trying to do too much at one time.
