“I don't need liquor, your scent intoxicated me enough.”

Running down the stairs, Lily catches a glimpse of her ex-boyfriend walking in the elevator. "Byungwoo!" she calls out. Even his name sounds bitter rolling off her tongue. Byungwoo stops and rushes out of the elevator, straight towards Lily. She beholds how messy he looks.

Eyes red and puffy, blotched face and he was wearing the same clothes he wore yesterday. His shining eyes stare at her with multiple emotions that swell her heart but Lily doesn't melt, she used to hug him to absorb his exhaustion when Byungwoo would come to her with the same look after having a rough day at work.

"Lily," his low voice, which she used to love ignited something deep inside her heart, it was irritation. Since morning she tried to ignore the simmering flames he set in her.

But when he was right in front of her, the memory of him kissing the girl flashed, making her want to slap herself for giving away a place in her heart to someone like him. The feeling of not being good enough slowly crawls in her skin, pulling the aching strings and making a strong knot of self-shame.

"Byungwoo, you shouldn't be here. It's my workplace. Leave while I am being nice," her voice came off so emotionless that Byungwoo's lips parted in surprise. He never had heard that voice, hell they never actually talked about things whenever they fought. Either of them would walk away if the argument starts to heat up.

She detested that but never voiced out her thoughts. She swiftly turns away from him, but he grabs her wrist and pulling her towards him.

"Byu-

"Just listen. I don't want to cause a scene. I just want to talk. Please. Just five minutes. I promise, just five minutes," he touches her cheek, and with a sharp hiss, she pulls away, glaring at him like anaconda ready to strangle the prey.

"Why? Why should I listen to you? Byungwoo, it's really hard to believe that you did this. I don't want to believe it, but I saw with my eyes. I don't get why would you do this. If you wanted to break up we would have talked. I would have set you free after kicking you where the sun doesn't shine," she tells him blankly.

Crying?

For him?

No way. Her mother didn't raise her to cry over boys. She liked him a lot, but he still didn't deserve her tears. She wasn't a teenager to sit in her bedroom, keep wailing and cursing her life, nor she was withstanding being dumped/cheated for the first time. Relationships never served her right.

"Lily, I won't go unless you talk to me. I will stay here," he stubbornly reclines on the seat near the critical care unit room.

Another soul-wrenching sigh.

"What's up?" his deep voice cut from behind her.

Yeah, only his presence was needed.

Taehyung walks towards them, looking back and forth between Lily and his brother.

"Do me a favor, and please take your brother out of here," she points at Byungwoo, who rolled his eyes still not ready to move.

"Hyung, just go. Talk to her later, she is working," Taehyung says to his brother.

"You should stay out of this. Anyway, how you both each other?" Byungwoo raises his brows, clenching his jaw.

Lily scoffs, balling her hands in a fist, "None of your business. Just get out!"
Her voice climbs an octave causing the people around them to stare. Byungwoo curses under his breath and closes the distance between her and him, he gently holds her hand, looking into her eyes, "Don't cause a scene. Let's talk like adults."

Lily yanks her arm from his grasp. He again tries to touch her but Taehyung steps in between their bodies, keeping his hand on Byungwoo's chest, slightly pushing him away.

"I am telling you, fuck off!" Byungwoo yells at his younger brother, huddling more interest in the people around them.

"It's you who need to fuck off Hyung. She is asking you nicely, just respect her wishes"

"Gosh, you little piece of shit," Byungwoo shoves Taehyung hard, he stumbles a bit but braced himself before his butt could land on Lily.

"What's happening?" she hears the voice which I didn't want to. Lily scew her eyes shut in utter frustration and when she opens them, Sehun scowls at the two men and her.

"Chief I-

"Of course Lily, it's you. All the cause of recent troubles source, that's you. Why I am not surprised?" his withering gaze makes her so embarrassed that she just wanted to perish to microorganisms in the air.

"I am-

"Sorry? Fine. Let's talk later Lily and you both," Sehun glares at two brothers, "Better be quiet, you are disturbing the patients."

With the last death glare, Sehun turns on his heels. Lily grimaced at the two idiots (her words not mine), "Listen to you both, I don't want to see anyone of you again. Never to be honest. Let's part our ways and don't ever show me your faces."

She leaves the duo alone to do whatever fuck they want and walks in the opposite direction. Hefty footsteps approach her hustling frame, expecting it to be Byungwoo she increases her pace but a man with ocean eyes blocks her way

"We should talk, Lily," voice hush, tone low and for the first time since morning, she initiates eye contact with him.

“I thought you wanted to talk," Lily drags his attention to her as for ten minutes he was blankly staring at the city. Taehyung finally turns his head and rivets his eyes with the chubby girl. The first time they met, she dropped her files looking into his eyes, and this time, she dropped her heart right in her stomach.

The silence on the rooftop was a smoothie of syncing breathes and the hustle of angelic, cool air streaks down her lungs. The skyscrapers around them glittered in silver and her honey gaze raises at the night sky absorbing the murky night in her eyes.

The silvery-white moonlight sprinkled on the ground, they were screaming everywhere. The night's aroma permeates the air, woven into a soft net, covering all the scenery inside. And then there was him, the most stunning man she ever laid her eyes on.

Standing under the midnight starry night both were trapped in the sandglass as the world around them froze in the admiration of their stirring souls. Both imbibed one thing about each other; He was like a glistening turquoise sea with tranquil pulse and she was scorching flames of the fiery blaze with reckless mind and messy soul.

The thundering of the bolt snagged their attention back to the real world and their gazes tears apart, "I don't have anything to say," his smooth deep voice slash through the stillness.

"I- seriously! I am really busy. Your brother inflicted enough damage so I would like it if you leave me alone as well. Let's pretend we never met each other and forget it all. Since I don't even know your name, it will be easier to act like strangers," she says, breathing out deeply as if she was forcing the words to be said. Maybe she was. Talking with humans was the last thing she wished to do. She just wanted to curl up in the bed with music and food, away from the world.

The man with ocean eyes unleashes an amused chuckle, "According to our professions, we both can comprehend that our memories must be strong. Let's see if you can forget my charming face, wanna try?" His challenging gaze held her blank for a minute but his egoistic smile boasts up her senses.

"Sure. From now on, you are on your way and I am on mine. Goodbye," she flaps her hand with the nastiest smile.

"See you around, Dr. Lily!" He laughs behind her retreating figure and the sound of his laugh gives jimjams down her spine.

What an egoistic jerk!
