pale sunlight washed over the sturdy ground, sweeping over the young prince's fair face. With a gentle groan and a rub of his piercing eyes, Legolas slipped out of bed. Walking out of his chamber in a weary fashion. He reached the dining table, where his father and a few of his acquaintances sat, eating their meal rather formally. The prince clambered up onto a chair, tucking into his meal to silence the sound of his rumbling belly. An awkward silence hung in the air.
"Son," Thranduil spoke, breaking the eerie aura.
Nothing more was said after that. As soon as he got the chance, Legolas retreated - sprinting towards the gate. He could hear the two guards chatting amongst themselves, a hearty chuckle passing their lips every now and then. He had to go and explore. Maybe his father was exaggerating - maybe it wasn't so dangerous. Legolas bit his tongue in concentration, grabbing a nearby empty wine bottle. He threw the glass through the wide open gates and waited.
"Hey! Who was that!" One of the guard's yelled.
"Come here!" The other spoke. As the pair strode indoors, Legolas slipped past the gate and sprinted downwards into the forest. He tumbled over, skidding behind a tree with a pant.
He glanced around, spotting a red headed she elf with leaf green eyes besides him. "Tauriel! Go away!" He waved his arms about.
"If you make me go back, I'll tell your father!" Tauriel threatened, crossing her arms over her chest.
Legolas narrowed his eyes at her, brow furrowed angrily. "Fine. But you have to be quiet. Who knows what's out there,"
The she elf shook her head, eyes closed. "Nothing! The older elves probably just make up stories about orcs to scare us away! But that won't stop me."
"Yeah, yeah. Of course it won't..." the blonde haired prince muttered, shaking his head. They ventured further into the forest, glancing at the towering shadows that casted down onto the leaf littered ground. Sunlight filtered through the branches like shards of broken glass - fitted together to create a mosaic of light.
"Don't be a fool, Legolas. Are you scared?" The silvan elf youngling teased.
The woodrealm prince let out a snort.
"Of course not!"
"Then move faster!"
