"Gandalf?" Arien whispered as she stood at the doorway to his room. She realised that she now had to tell him, for she feared for his life. The wizard shuffled his blankets and peered up at her, a small blade in his hand. He dropped it as she stepped into the light. He let out a sigh.
"Oh it's you." He said and glanced up at the window, where the moon still shone through painting half of his face in white.
"It is not yet dawn." He said with a frown then registered her worried expression.
"What is it?" He asked and shifted out of the bedding and stood. She walked into the room and closed the door behind her.
"I need to tell you something." She said. "As you are probably already aware my father has the gift of foresight." The wizard nodded and she continued.
"Well he wasn't the only one, that gift has been passed to me." She glanced up at him, the wizard did not look surprised. "I was aware of it." He muttered. "Well, at least I suspected." He said with a chuckled and folded his bedding. Then stopped as it dawned on him why she had told him.
"You saw something." He muttered and turned to her with worried eyes as Arien nodded. "What did you see?" He walked towards her and grasped her shoulder. She shifted slightly at his tight grasp and told him.
"There isn't just one army, but two forming, one in the mountains, and one in an old fortress. I do not know where, but I saw you there Gandalf, you were trapped." He did not react visibly to these words, the wizard was keeping his emotions hidden, though he was silent for a time.
"Where was this place?" He asked and she shrugged.
"I have no clue, I have not encountered such a place before. Though I would know if I laid my eyes on it." The wizard frowned and swung his pack on his back then opened the door.
"In that case, we must move quickly, this news troubles me. I fear we do not have long, perhaps a year at the most." They rushed out and Arien grabbed her bag from her room before they jogged down the black passages to another cavern housing the stables. When they arrive Aragorn was already present. He glanced at them both.
"Change of plans?" He asked and they nodded.
"Indeed, it seems we must leave sooner than expected, we need two horses." The wizard replied and Aragorn pointed to a stall containing Gandalf's horse.
"I think this one belongs to you." He said motioning for Arien to follow. They reached the furthest stall to find it occupied with Ariens' grey stallion storm. She grinned happily and wrapped her arms around the stallions neck.
"How did you find him?" She asked and led him out to find Aragorn holding her saddle and reins.
"He was wandering in the woods nearby, a scout picked him up. Wanted to keep him for himself." He chuckled and helped her put the harness on. Once finished she wrapped her arms around the ranger and pulled him into a hug.
"I'll see you soon. I promise." She said before releasing him and leaping into the saddle. Gandalf stood waiting.
"I meant to ask, what of Arwen?" Aragorn's eyes glittered at the memory of her sister.
"She has travelled to Lorien to spend some time with our grandmother. She will return home to Rivendell, and I have no doubt that she awaits your return." Arien replied with a smile before riding to the Wizards side. They nodded at one another before setting off back towards Bree at a gallop.
