As they danced Lindir pulled her close. She gazed happily up at him, shocked he was being so forward.
"You look beautiful this evening." He whispered as they spun to the music. She blushed deeply.
"Why Thankyou Lindir." Arien replied and sighed in happiness. Nothing could make this evening better, perhaps apart from knowing the whereabouts of her mother. Arien shivered slightly against the tingle of Lindirs' hand on her waist.
"Your father tells me you wish to leave Rivendell." He pressed his eyes flashing with hurt. She frowned and gazed at their feet.
"Yes, I will be sad to go. But I feel like I want to learn more about the world." She replied and the elf Lord tilted her chin up with his finger looking into her eyes.
"Is there nothing which could change your mind?" He asked and Arien stopped dancing speechless.

"I...." She begun but stopped short as a frantic guard burst into the hall. The music silenced suddenly at the wild guards gaze. He ran straight to Lord Elrond and in his startled state made no effort to be polite.
"My lord, Celebrían! She's dead." He cried as tears streaked down his cheek. Elronds face faltered and turned from confusion to horror. Startled gasps echoed around the room and Arien felt her happiness crumble.
"Please, excuse us." Elrond said trying to gain some composure, but inside she knew he was about to slip over the edge of grief. "Arien, Arwen." He said softly and she felt Arwen gently take her hand and lead them after her father as they walked out of the hall towards his quarters.

Once there Arien sat in a large chair by the fire, no one dared to speak. The doors swung open and her twin brothers Elladan and Elrohir walked solemnly into the room. They had been head of the search and one of the first to find her. The guard said nothing, he was of no use. The poor elf was clearly in shock, shaking and whimpering to himself.
"Leave us." Elladan commanded the guard and he hurried out of the room. Elrohir sat beside her and wrapped a comforting arm around Ariens shoulders.
"How did it happen?" Elrond asked finally speaking. Elladan gazed down at the floor tears in his eyes.
"Mountain trolls father. We slew them as we arrived, but it was too late. She was already gone." He chocked the last words out and Arien let out a sob. She didn't understand why such creatures could do this. Why they were here, why they had come so close to their lands.
"Why was she out there?" Arien asked as tears streamed blurring her vision. Her father turned away and wiped his eyes. He was trying to act brave infront of them.
"She left to gather flowers for your birthday. She was searching for the moonflower." He replied sadly. Suddenly it dawned on Arien that her death was no ones fault but her own. She stood and fled the room in tears, barreling down the corridors she crashed into Lindir. He saw her state and tried to grasp her in his arms. She flung him away. "GET OFF ME!" She cried and pushed away his chest. He stumbled back in shock.
"Arien!" He cried, but she swung on him.
"DONT TALK TO ME, ITS ALL MY FAULT, I KILLED HER!" She screamed and ran to her room. Lindir made no effort to follow her.
