The dawn sun casts its bright blanket over the forest below. The sounds of a nearby river in the distance, bees hovering over flowers, flocks of sheep moving through the vegetation and small fires as the monsters are purified by the light. However, a mound of dirt started to shift as it caved in and a trio of people emerged.
The first, a man in a suit of armor that was rusted all over, and was only hanging on by a few vines. Second, a woman in a simple cloth outfit climbed up and pulled out the last person. Lastly, another woman in a sort of cow outfit and a crown made of pure 24 karat gold. As they clambered out of the makeshift hole, the man, Gelatin, scouted around with his hand around his weapon, weary for any monsters that have found solace in the shade of the tall pine trees. The woman in the cow outfit, Rallebon, started passing around food for the journey that awaited them. The other woman, Morpheon, looked around for a good place to settle down.
The group decided it was better to get out of the forest, as it could have remnants of monsters from the previous night. As they trekked through the wilderness, Morpheon spotted a mountain range. Something else was also up on the tallest mountain, but they were too far away to see it. This mystery only fueled their adventuring desire as they hurriedly began to march towards the mountains.
"We are running low on food." Rallebon stated as she checked the supplies. Gelatin's eyes gleamed as he nodded and split off from the group. The other two set up camp so they didn't lose him. They rolled out their beds, set up the deployable furnaces, workbenches and gathered wood for a fire that acted more of a signal than anything else.
"That should do it. Now we just have to wait for Gelatin to arrive." Rallebon said as she took note of their supplies. "I hope he doesn't take too long, we need to move while it is still day."
"Yeah, I want to see what is on the mountain. It seems like a man-made structure, but it is too far away to tell." Morpheon said as she looked back up the mountain.
"If it is man-made, then I wonder who built it. We saw many old ancient temples and ships, but that looks a lot larger then anything we have ever seen before. This might just be our greatest find yet!" Rallebon excitedly said as she examined the small dot in the distance.
As the pair shared theories about the structure, they heard a rustling in the wilderness. Almost like a lever has been switched, they twisted towards the sound and readied their weapons. Morpheon's was a worn down steel sword covered in wear and tear. Rallebon used her wood cutting axe, which wasn't the best as it was heavy, but it was better than nothing. The duo tensed up as they waited for another signal of the perpetrator.
Just then they saw a big object hurl towards them at an alarming speed. They both rolled out of the way as they noticed it was the corpse of an entire sheep. The body landed perfectly next the fire. As they braced for a huge monster to step out of the tree line, out stepped Gelatin. He was carrying an assortment of pigs, chickens and sheep in a fishnet bag. He carried about three more animals on shoulder. He was covered head to toe in blood, his bottom half more so than his top. His weapon, a medium sized short sword that was kept in pristine condition, was covered in gore.
"I brought some food." Gelatin blankly stated as he began to unpack his cargo. The other two sheathed their weapons as they calmed down from their adrenaline rush.
"Jeez, you shouldn't sneak up on us like that! We could've hurt you, you know." Rallebon lectured the man as she began to prepare the animals.
"Maybe." Gelatin said as he cleaned his weapon with a rag.
"Y'know, you don't have to act your the only person who knows how to fight, just because you are the only one who had formal training!" Rallebon argued. She was really getting fed up him, as he almost always goes out of his way to fight by himself. He always said it was because he is more used to fighting alone and he wanted to protect the others, but she didn't believe him. Whenever he was fighting, he was constantly smiling. Before every conflict he chuckled to himself, like he was overconfident in his ability of slaughter.
"You said it, not me." Gelatin retorted as he began to wash his armor in a water bucket.
"Hey, we shouldn't argue, we still have to get ready to go to the mountain." Morpheon cut in as she stepped between the two.
"I couldn't agree more." Rallebon said as she left the others.
Gelatin huffed as he continued to work on cleaning his outfit.
After cooking the animals, the group called it a night and slept under the watchful eye of the thousands of stars that filled the night sky.
