Riptide

7 6 1

Running along the shore
crashing in the waves
together

white bubbles
collecting at our feet

covered in sand

setting along the horizon
the sun is pink

The water is warm

we swim

A small string of an indent
along the surface of the water
gets bigger as we go further

unnoticed

we still go
the sharp rocks between our toes

further
we cannot touch the ground any longer

No life guard
a peaceful kind of danger

together

it didn't matter what happened
just that we were together

But what went unnoticed
came out of nowhere

and you were ripped away from me

I screamed

So did you

nothing stopped the force of the tide

pulling you under
you took your last breaths
and you were gone

not together any longer.

but life went on

Without you.
