That evening at their townhouse, Rose and Sirius laid together in bed in a comfortable silence. Sirius sat with a small glass of bourbon next to him on the nightstand, his arm around Rose. Rose laid on his chest while reading. Her A Night at the Opera record played softly, and the curtains fluttered out in the mid-October breeze. Sirius's strong hands lazily toyed with Rose's curls. The moment was peaceful, but was soon interrupted by Rose putting her book across her chest and taking a deep breath.

"Do you think we'll be good godparents?" she asked. Sirius could tell it had been worrying her all evening. "I think we will, and I know for certain you will. The poor kid is gonna need a break sometimes, and when they do, we'll be here," he replied matter-of-factly. "I just worry, Sirius. Things are so crazy right now, and we're all still so young. I mean James and Lily will be twenty when they have the baby. It feels like yesterday we were just attending school and now we're godparents. And not to mention the child will be half-blood..." That was the fact that had been plaguing Rose. With Voldemort around, half bloods weren't that much better off than muggleborns, and she worried that her godchild would be in danger of facing what she does everyday.

Sirius gave her shoulders a squeeze. "I know we're young Rosie, but you know James and Lily will be good parents. The baby is going to be surrounded by people that love them from birth. That includes protecting them from everything that's out there right now." Rose sighed and inched closer to Sirius. He slid his hand to her stomach. "And who knows," he began with a loving smile. "When the war is over and we're married, we can try for our own." Rose blushed. She imagined a little girl with long curly hair and ebony eyes jumping into Sirius's arms, and a small boy in a leather jacket that his father insisted upon buying, with the tan skin of his mother. "I don't know if I could handle another half-you running around, my love," she chuckled "But then again? That sounds perfect." Sirius kissed Rose's head. Their mind was filled with visions of their own little family, and so there they laid, in dreamy silence once more.

Once again, Rose broke it.

"I don't know why... but I think they're going to have a boy." she said. Sirius looked deep in thought before finally replying. "That does seem the most fitting doesn't it?" he asked. She nodded. The night wore on, and by midnight Sirius was fast asleep next to Rose. She was inches from the same, but still could not ignore a dreadful feeling that had been plaguing her since that afternoon.
