TW//nightmare (death in it)
Rose Ferbreezeo sat up in her bed and looked out the window at 4am on this cold December night. The stars lit up the dark sky, vast and never ending. They looked like tiny candles, illuminating the sky so that the angels above could look down on London, and everywhere else for that matter. She rubbed her now larger stomach absentmindedly. Sirius tossed occasionally next to her, fast asleep.
A dream had woken her up. She had been in a field, covered with pansies, lilacs, violets, and lilies, running madly away from Sirius in a child like game of tag. The sun shone down brightly, and white fluffy clouds dotted the blue sky above. Sirius had a bubbling little baby in his arms, dark curls strewn messily over it's little head and face. The family laughed as they chased each other through the meadow. Sirius's deep laugh bellowed closely behind her, followed by squeals of delight from their baby. Rose ran, and was laughing too hard to notice the gaping hole that lay hidden within the grass. She heard one last laugh from Sirius before falling into the great hole, and landed suspended in thick darkness.
The hole had closed, and she could no longer see the brilliant blue sky above, only blackness. It seemed like an empty sky, void of any life. She called out, but no sound came. All was suffocated by the immense void. The darkness became a room, one that closed closer in on Rose with each passing second. She tried to scream, kick, and pray, but it only sped up the closing of the room.
Her mind was filled with thoughts of Sirius, and a silent sob was etched on her face. Tears fell as the air grew tighter. The walls turned green before they crushed her completely, and she jolted awake.
Rose wasn't sure what the dream meant, if anything at all. Yet it was concerning, and she was not sure if she wanted to go back to sleep. A gentle kick was felt within her stomach, and for a moment, the recollection of the horrible dream faded into a feeling of complete adoration for the baby that was living inside her. Every decision Rose made these days circled around the baby's safety. It had not come, but Rose was already protecting her child with everything she had.
She opened the bedroom window, the chilly air rushing in and refreshing her mind of the dread that filled it moments ago. She patted her stomach. "You drive me up the wall already, little one," she whispered. "Just like your father." Rose turned to cast a loving look down at a stirring Sirius, his face at peace, the most peace she had seen him in for weeks.
Rose leaned on the window ledge and looked out at sleeping London, wiping her being of the worry that plagued it often. She jumped a bit when she felt a chin resting on her shoulder, and two strong arms wrapped around her own. Sirius kissed her bare shoulder and neck and she leaned her head against his. Rubbing her stomach, he cooed to it, "Keeping mum up already?" "Just like daddy," Rose said with a chuckle. Sirius reciprocated and kissed her cheek. "You've done your fair share of that as well my love." "Rubbish," Rose replied.
The couple sat together like that for a while, holding each other warm in the December chill. The stillness was peaceful. It seemed as though the night was totally aloof to the madness that plagued it's streets and outskirts. Unknowing of their similar thoughts, both Rose and Sirius enjoyed this brief moment where they could be too.
