December 8th
Her old, worn out pointe shoes created loud thuds against the expensive Marley dance floor. Her legs lifted, yet her feet no longer reached her head. The melody was the same, yet it sounded different. When she did her the first balloné en pointe, her ankles gave up. She landed on the floor straight away as she muttered a very audible, "fuck sake"
"How long has it been since you stopped taking lessons?" Chan, who sat facing her, asked.
"Four," Jihan grunted as she removed the pointe shoes and threw them across the room.
"Why did you stop?"
She pushed herself upwards to stand and shuddered when her bare feet came in contact with the cold floor. "Father suggested that I focus on studying since I will not be able to go professional anyway. He had a point, so I stopped"
"So you were fourteen?" Her brother asked. "I see... Your moves aren't as rusty, I'm surprised"
"Would you like to dance with me?" She joked as she ran to fetch her own pointe shoes which she'd just thrown across the room.
"Trust me when I say ballet is absolutely not my forte," the boy laughed. "My extensions only reach about a hundred degrees- or even less"
It was a Sunday, which meant that Chan was free of any extra classes he needed to take. Sundays were always their days, Jihan and Chan. Their three year age gap never exactly affected how the two siblings bonded. Maybe it was because out of all her brothers, she was the most similar to Chan. He was a mirror of her; more of such than her actual twin.
"Yeah, I can see that-"
"Says you who can't even do a balloné anymore. Even I can do that, and I suck at ballet"
"Just a reminder that pointe shoes are absolutely horrifying-"
"All right since you're older and frail, I'll let you win," sassed the fifteen year old male, but all of a sudden, the smile on his face was replaced with a frown. "Until when do you plan on becoming father's puppet?"
Jihan blinked, unable to process her brother's sudden query. "What?"
"You know," Chan shrugged. "He's controlling you the most. Look, I may be young, but I'm not ignorant nor blind"
"How'd we go from dancing to this hell hole of a subject?" Jihan raised a brow slightly, yet her tone was the same. Light. "Everything's going according to plan, Jungchan"
"Plan? You have a plan?"
"I have a plan for everything," she winked before straying from the subject. "So, do you plan on making dance your career? Don't act dumb, I know you're thinking about it"
Chan looked taken aback, like he was caught doing something he shouldn't have done. "I... Yeah, I'm thinking about auditioning for an entertainment company"
Jihan hummed, unsurprised, since he's given her many clues in the past anyway. "You didn't seem interested in taking dance seriously before. What changed your mind?"
"I like singing just as much as I like dancing"
"You're a smart boy, Chan. Are you willing to throw away all your awards for performing?" She questioned, and Chan went still.
Jihan didn't want to discourage her brother, but she wanted Chan to be sure. He needed to choose, and he needed to do it quick. She's older after all, it's her job to guide Chan, since no one else can.
