I received a letter from you
One you never sent
Left for me in a dream
One I hope you meant
In this dream I took you
To a hidden space
A cabin off the road
A safe and special place
I spoke of the waking world
The letters I would write
Ones I'd never send
Of these moments late at night
I told you how I missed you
And the warm summer days
I said let's go outside
In the beautiful golden haze
The cabin will always be here
You could stay if you wished
I'd come visit you in sleep
Where our friendship still exists
I don't know how it happened
At some point you were gone
Vanished once again
With the coming of the dawn
In your place a letter
Lay folded on the floor
It was written in your hand
And it shook me to my core
But I couldn't read it all
No matter how I tried
The paper was to wet
From all the tears I cried
Not much I could decipher
Only the last line
"I am your friend."
Can I take it as a sign?
Thank you for your letter
It meant the world you see
I'll keep it in the cabin
With the memories of you and me.
