I saw you today,
Walking along a strange street.
You were carrying a box.
I asked if we could speak.I asked if you remembered my letters,
The ones I always write,
The ones I'll never send,
Of these meetings late at night. You remembered, of course you did,
But you sounded a little annoyed.
I hope everything is okay.
Is it me you want to avoid?Regardless you spoke to me,
Though I don't think you said a word.
Even if you didn't say it,
It was your advice that I heard.I will consider what you said,
Even though you didn't speak.
Rest now in the cabin,
Till the next time that I sleep. But now I sit and wonder,
Now that I am awake,
What was in the box?
I think I need to know for sanity's sake.
