Summer Love

Chapter 4

Ava's P.O.V.
"Excuse me, but we are trying to find our way back to civilization." I say while Mae is trying to recover from laughing.

"Actually we just came from "civilization." The blonde says using air quotes. I start to hear his accent that I didn't hear in his quick outburst.

"Well we would like to get back, you see we have things to..." I say, but am cut off by the brunette walking past me and yelling "Follow Me."

"Sooo what are your names since we are saving you, we should probably know the names of the damsels we saved." The blonde says trying to break the silence.

"I'm Mae." She says abruptly.

"I'm Ava, What are your names?" I ask

"I'm Niall and he is Harry." Pointing to the man in front of me.

"So how long are you guys staying here?" Harry asks.

"We are staying for a week at camp and then going to my moms."

"Well since you guys are staying on grounds, would you like to come to our bonfire tonight." Niall asked looking straight into my eyes.

"We would love to." Mae blurts out but then starts to laugh at my expression.

"Well we are busy tonight." I say.

"What are we doing tonight?" Mae asks with a knowing tone.

"You know...."I say.

"Weren't you just saying how we had nothing to do tonight and you wish we did." Mae says with a smile on her face.

"Fine we can go." I say monotone even though I am kinda excited.

"Yayyyy!" Mae yells while running around the path, but then suddenly starts to fall. With one quick movement of his arm she is safe in his arms.

Mae POV
Before I know it I am in someone's arms. I look up to see Harry holding me by my waist and helping me stand. We look at each other for what seems to me hours but is a sheer minute. It is interrupted by Niall coughing and knocking me from my gaze.

"Are you okay."Harry asks when we start to walk again.

"Yeah, thank you for saving me from my two foot drop." I say sarcastically.

"You are welcome." He says laughing.

"I think Ava and Niall are really kicking it off." I say, while I look over my shoulder to see Ava with a pissed look on her face. I can't stop but giggle to myself.

"What are you laughing at." Harry asks as he looks down at me.

"Ava has a really pissed off look on her face, look it's hilarious." I say as we both look back. We both break out into laughter, and Ava snaps from her gaze and gives me the evil eye.

"How long have you known Ava you two seem pretty close?" Harry asks.

"We have been friends for a really long time since we were around 6, how long have you known Niall?"

"About 4 years we met in high school, we moved to America a couple years ago." He says.

"Where are you from by the way I have been wondering?"

"I'm from Holmes Chapel, Chesire England. Where are you from?" He asks, his voice sounding thick with his accent.

"I am from plain old Arizona, America is really nothing special."

"America is awesome I love it especially LA." He says

"How do you know how to get back?" I ask trying to get away from anymore questions.

"Well we should be almost there, I know a lot of the workers and I come here a lot." He stats.

"Okay, thanks for taking us back by the way."

"No problem, I have nothing better to do since I lost my pet." He says with a
smirk.

Ava P.O.V.

Mae and Harry were soon in deep conversation and I was stuck with the Happy Leprechaun.

"So what are you doing in California?" He asks and smiles over to me. Personally I think he is too happy for my taste.

"Well I grew up here and I came back for summer break to see my crazy family."

"I would go back to Ireland, but I have to stay because of my job." He says

"Oh, what do you do?"

"I work in a music shop downtown, it's really convenient since I play the guitar and all" He mentions.

"I play guitar too!" I blurt out without thinking. I look over to his face and his piercing blue eyes are staring back at me with a smile plastered on his face. I guess he isn't that bad.

"Wow it looks like we have more in common than you'd think" He says. I smile back at him. He then reaches over to me and I get a jolt of nerves. He takes my water bottle from the side of my backpack.

"You should drink up so you don't dehydrate."

"Oh.. Y-yea that would be smart.." I stutter out. I take the cap off and take a small sip from the bottle. Why am I getting nervous all of a sudden?? This isn't like me. Well he is kinda cute, with the way his muscles are prominent through the white tee shirt. I glance over at him and see him running his hands through his hair. He has really nice hands to. I bet he has a girlfriend though I should stop thinking about him. As I battle with my inner thoughts I feel something touch my waist.

"Hey you in there Ava?" Niall asks laughing.

"Ya sorry haha I was just thinking about something."

"Care to share?"

"Uhh it's nothing important just thinking about this trip."

"What about it?" Wow he asks a lot of questions I think to myself.

"Just how long this hike is taking." I quickly say. I guess that makes sense? Hopefully he will buy it.

"Uh huh." He says with a knowing look on his face. I bet he saw me staring at him. I feel the heat rise to my cheeks and know I am blushing. Thankfully Mae says something to keep him from looking at me. She stops and looks back at us. I notice we are at the edge of the camping grounds and know we have found our way back. We catch up to them and she begins to talk about tonight.

"Hey guys, what time do you want us to come around?" She questions.

Niall and Harry both look at each other before Harry says "5 o'clock"

"Okay perfect." Mae says smiling. I know she is excited, I need to ask her later what her and Harry were so deep in conversation with. We say our goodbyes and promise them we'll see them later and head back to our tents.
