I spent the other day browsing the dictionary, as well as looking at my class list. But now I was running down the halls, late to my first class. Aerocratics.
"Hey R. Need a lift?" a voice asked. I looked up to see Neo. Oh thank God.
"Yeah. Aerocratics," I laughed, taking their hand. They lifted me off the ground, making me a little dizzy.
"You're in luck my dear R," Neo stated as we flew higher and higher.
"N-neo..?" I stammered, now seeing the ground as fuzzy.
"Shut your eyes, it helps a lot for beginners. I should know, I help teach aerocratics."
I did as told and soon felt us standing on a ledge. Neo led me into a room with hard floor. I opened my eyes.
"This looks like a home..." I murmured.
"It-"
"Ah. Neo, R, how kind of you two to join us," a woman, who I assume is the teacher, spoke to us. She looks young.
"I apologize Mrs. Demari," Neo bowed their head. I followed suit.
"It's alright. I'll let it slide this time," Mrs. Demari winked before instructing us to sit down. There were maybe seven other students in the class.
I decided to take notes.
- aerocratics was primarily for those with a flying/levitation related branch.
- It uses some form of science and calculating
- Also mentions flying creatures
I stayed in while the rest of the students went out. Neo stayed with me.
"Still no sign?"
I shook my head. They patted my shoulder and we both flew down to the academy.

A brief overlap allowed us to sit and chat.
"So... what do you know about velcie?" I asked. They froze up a little.
"Velcie are vicious. They're fast and breath fire, only one breed flies though. Sound is what triggers them the most." Neo relayed before looking at me, "wait... you were with them weren't you?"
I nodded. Their expression softened.
"It was scary. We were lucky that Eris came, otherwise we'd be roasted kabobs," I joked.
Neo tilted their head, "what's a kabob?"
"Oh... it's a vegetable, fruit, or meat on a stick. Sometimes cooked, sometimes not. Meat is always cooked," I explained. They nodded.
"We should make it sometime," they announced. I smiled and nodded. Eris walked up to us.
"Companions," he bowed. Neo chuckled.
"Ever so polite... in the public eye at least," Neo winked, voice teasing.
He quirked an eyebrow and smirked. "Is that so my dear Neo? I find myself to be rather clumsy."
"Mhmmm... I better get going though. Will you look after my dear R for me?" they asked. Eris draped an arm over my shoulders.
"I'll do my best," he replied. We watched as Neo walked away.
