XXXI - Ask Him Out

I'm walking to school with Kageyama. I have plans of asking him to the amusement park today after school. Luckily, both our practices got canceled because of some school event. I couldn't have asked for a better time to cancel the practices. I grin to myself. Kageyama notices though, "What are you grinning about?" Shoot, what do I say. "I-I'm happy because practice got canceled!", I say quickly. He gets even more suspicious, "But you love dance practice..." Oh yeah, I do. It's funny how easily I get flustered around him. "Well, I was kinda tired and I was going to call of the practice anyway. So I'm glad it got canceled on its own." I manage to cook up some story.

"Well, I'm super bummed that volleyball practice got canceled," he says. Of course he is. Wait, maybe this is the perfect time to ask. I can try to cheer him up by asking now. "Maybe we can go out after school?", I ask. He looks at me, "Where?" "The amusement park. Pleeeease, I've been wanting to go for quite a while, and it's weird going alone," I whine.

She's so cute. I find it hard to say no. "Okay, fine. But you gotta get ready to lose. I'm going to beat you in all the games." She gets fired up, "In your dreams! I'm going to make you eat your words!" "Haha, yeah we'll see about that," I snicker. Wait... Is this a date? This is technically the first time we're going out together, just the two of us. We've hung out plenty of times indoors, but that's just because we're neighbours. Right? God, Kageyama, you need to stop over thinking everything.

The day goes by in a breeze. Before I know it, we're in the last period, and the bell rings in ten minutes. It's as if the universe is supporting me in my romantic endeavors. Thanks, universe! The bell rings, and I have the urge to sprint out of the room. But no, I am sophisticated, I have class, so I walk out of there at a normal pace. I walk up to the school gate to see Kageyama. "Shall we?", I ask him. "We shall," he replies.

We're walking together to the amusement park. We went to our homes first, changed out of our uniforms, and met up to leave. I can't help but steal a few glances at her. She's wearing a blue crop top with cargo pants and vans. She looks really good... I look away, a blush creeping onto my cheeks.

He looks great today. Well, to be fair, he looks great everyday. More so in his jersey... Argh! Stop thinking, mind! He's wearing a blue oversized shirt with a black shirt underneath, along with jeans. Our outfit colours matched, but it was pure coincidence! I bet we look like a couple to others now... "Come on, Kageyama!", I grabbed his forearm and dragged him inside.
