Cocooned within a strong black atmosphere, the clouds promising to bring the blacktop streets deepest shine, the city and storm become one entity, one work of art together. You looked down to watch the small figures of the public spreading out in a hurry to search for a shelter then flocking into one building. The city lights were flickering within your vision in the evening, the dreams of night began to play in sweet imagination— or so you hoped it was.
"I thought you'd be here," A familiar voice chimed in surprising you. You turned your head to see the familiar dark-haired bard smiling at you before he traipsed in your direction.
"Venti... Oh, is it time for dinner?"
The young man shook his head to your question, his stride stopping once he was standing next to you. "No, Lady Amos is still preparing it. What are you doing here though? Isn't it cold?" His voice had a mild reproving tone in it but not so harsh, especially when it comes to you.
You opened your palms then looked at it for a quick second. "Not really. I was just out to take a quick look at the capital." A small puff of white cloud came out from your lips as you spoke. Giving attention to this, Venti removed the brown cloak sprawled on his shoulder and brought it over to your small form.
"I don't want you getting sick now, especially with the clothes you're wearing." His fingers brushed over the fabric of your dress before settling his hands down back to his side. His cloak warms you enough as his smile, and within it you can feel no chill. The yarn is from the mountain sheep of the north and the fleece lining too.
A small giggle escaped from your delicate lips and pulled the cover close to you as you thanked him with a smile.
"Worried as always. And where's Barbatos? I thought he'd be with you." Peering over his shoulder, you hoped to see the small wind wisp floating next beside him but it seems like there's no sign of the spirit which is a rare sight to see. Venti and Barbatos are always together side-by-side unless the latter is sleeping.
"He's inside the manor so he can cover for me while I look for you."
For several moments you stood unmoving, processing his words while the gears of your brain started their work. It never fails to amuse Venti whenever he sees your surprised demeanor just by his testimonies. Sighing, he rested his arms on the balcony rail then planted his chin on his palm before he gave you a look of worry.
"You've been sneaking out lately. You know the soldiers will catch you once they see you outside considering how notorious you and Lady Amos are." Venti exclaimed and before you could protest, you felt a strong force on your body. An arm sneaking its way to slither on your middle and pushed you back as the young lad quickly circled to switch positions with you. With his back leaning against the rail and you in front of him facing him.
You had suddenly lost the ability of speech. Your heart was pounding against your ribs as if trying to fulfill a thousand beats from the closeness between you and your friend. He looked right through your [eye color] gems, an indescribable emotion swirling in his blue eyes that you're nervous to know what it is, yet a desirable feeling to understand and think why he was giving you a look of... tenderness.
Your daydreaming was interrupted when he lightly tapped your nose and raised the hood of his cloak above your head. "You should be more careful. Everyone here is almost watchful of their surroundings and they won't hesitate to do anything to get you back to that tower." He breathed out, voice light with concern but you can't help but notice the way he said it was shaky. Is it from the sheer coldness or is it something different?
