Chapter 1: Try Outs

George's POV
The buzz from the square box started beeping once again. It was the same time each morning and each morning it wouldn't get any easier.

7:00am.

George groaned as he turned his head back into the pillow. He wasn't ready in the slightest for today since it was Monday but it was also because of tryouts, football tryouts.

He's been debating for the best two years whether or not he should actually join, honestly, he's been practicing and playing football for fun with his father ever since he was young.

Yeah his father had to move away for a job back in England but he was supposed to come back sometime this summer.

Hopefully.

But today, he was finally going to try out. George was either going to make the team and gain a few more friends who could possibly be family or the whole thing could be a complete bust and he'll be the new person they pick on.

George hit the alarm and the annoying buzzing sound had stopped, so he got out of the comfortable bed and walked towards the bathroom.

He needed a shower, at least to just help with his thoughts and the feeling of water somehow managed to always help.

The water rolling down his back, not cold but not burning hot either, felt nice. Wishing he could stay there for another few minutes, he had to tell himself he didn't want to be late.

As the last few drops dripped on his head, George grabbed the white towel that hung close to the shower to dry himself off before putting on his clothes.

A simple white hoodie with no design, a pair of jack jeans with cuts, and just some black socks.

"I guess this will work." He looked into the mirror while his hands idled in the front pocket of his hoodie, grabbing his white glasses and checkered slip on vans before picking up his keys to leave.

George shut the car door and made sure it was locked after grabbing his bag and walking up to the school doors.

The scent of overly used perfume coming from the group of girls who stood by the football jocks, smoke from the alleyway, and everything else which filled the air were just mixtures of honestly anything school related.

People hung out everywhere when first period didn't start yet; in the alleyway, at the parking lot while sitting on top cars, in the front of the building, and anywhere else one could possibly come up with.

But George ignored everyone as he passed through, going straight to the one place he's gone every morning for that last two years.

A random room in the back of the school George and Wilbur found their freshman year.

And so they've hung there ever since and even showing new friends they gained.

"George! It's been so long." Niki almost ran over the second George opened the door.

"Yeah, I haven't seen you since your first year." Giving a small smile, he hugged her back while waving to Wilbur and Tommy who sat behind them.

Niki had to move away for sophomore year since her mother had to take a job offer down in California for the time being, but now she's back in Florida.

"Tommy, when do football try outs start today?" Letting go from Niki's grasps, he headed over towards the back where everyone sat. "and where?"

"You're actually trying out? Pog." The blond had a wide smile on his face, knowing he was going to make the team. "Right after schools out and on the field with all the gurls."
