you glanced down swiftly to the puppy sitting beside your legs "it's a boy , but he doesn't have a name yet , the adoption shelter named him johnny and i didn't think you'd exactly like that , so i figured you'd wanna re-name him together " you reached down to grab him and held him out, a silent invitation for him to pet the dog
"come on jay , he's real nice - i wouldn't bring home some random dog if i knew it would have been one that was disobedient or mean and shit " you defended when he just stared blankly at the animal in your arms "i can always find someone else to take him while we figure this out"
schlatt sighed and looked at the dog and hesitated before giving him a few scratches on the back
"listen he .... he can stay for now , alright ? "
"wait really?" you smiled fully handing over the small dog to him
"yeah really , just , watch him please ? i don't know if i want him staying forever because god knows how he'll react to poor jambo" he said hesitantly before setting the animal down and letting you hug him , thanking him profusely
"alright , alright , we still need to discuss it though!they're not welcome yet but you are so let's go find jambo and see how that shit plays out"
