When they returned from their trip yesterday she had expected to see Kamil all tired and grumpy but the reverse was the case. He was so full of energy that she had almost spanked him before he slept. She had already predicted that he would definitely leave something behind because he slept very late and had woken up complaining that he wanted to sleep more. She bad ignored his complains and got him ready for school only for the Teacher to call that he had left his lunch basket.
The School was quiet since all the students were already in thier classes. One could only hear their voices as they learned. A little stretch from the parking lot will lead you to a corridor which would usher you into the nursery section. Nursery two was on the left to the entrance. As she approached, she looked from window to window trying to see if she would catch a glimpse of her son. She spotted him in the middle row his gaze fixed on the piece of white paper sprawled in front if him. There he was, her gentleman on his blue seat gazing intently at the teacher. Looking closely, she saw his hand passing something to the seat behind his own. The occupant of the seat a girl who was strikingly beautiful also scooted closer trying to meet his. She couldn't make out the color of the object but it looked purplish or pinkish. She scooted a bit forward while trying not to look suspicious. It was a toy bunny. As kamil places it on her hands, it fell to the ground which caused him to move in his chair. A screeching sound from the move drew the Teacher's attention to them. On seeing this, Halima adjusted her stance and proceeded to the door where she knocked and then entered.
The Teacher who was already halfway towards kamil's seat stoped and made towards her. She could see Kamil's eye light up in glee when he sighted her. He waves his long fingers which looked exactly like his Father's at her. She frowned a bit and then held her ear in a scolding gesture. He returned with a look of surprise and pouted his lips. "I saw what you did." She muttered "
"Good Morning Ma," his teachers voice stopped her from saying anything further.
"Good Morning Mrs Grace. I brought Kamil's lunch. " She said while handing the blue lunch basket to her.
"How is work and family? Hope you are all fine." She asks while they made for the door.
"Everything is fine . How are your Students? I hope they are not giving you any trouble?
"we thank God o Ma. They are faring very well. We've not been seeing you around I hope all is well. Kamil told me that the Driver is the one bringing him now.
"I am fine thank you. Its just that his Father had gotten him a designated driver who would be bringing him to school.
"That's good to know. Do you mind?" Mrs grace pointed to a chair as they reached the Playroom. A cozy little room whose walls had paintings of dragons and cartoon characters. It doubled as her office and also the Kids playroom. There where toys scattered all around the floor. As she sat, Halima adjusts her pink veil which had fallen off her head.
" I am glad you came by yourself today. I know this is not something related to school work but I can't help but wonder. Kamil has been acting a bit strange lately. He doesn't engage in most of the activities of the school. I know he is not a hyper kid but even the things that used to excite him don't anymore. He keeps mostly to himself. Is there a family problem Ma, you know kids get affected by the things around them. Or perhaps he is not feeling too well which I doubt.
"Uhm, well, we recently moved to a new environment perhaps its the change that is getting to him. He is quite okay because we visited the Doctor for his checkup not quite long ago. But thanks for telling me this I really appreciate. I would be sure to check on him myself.
