it had been raining as soon as they landed from their flight. early december air was biting cold but the kyoto atmosphere felt refreshing as ever.
it was the second time for jeonghoon to travel in other countries. since it was a long year-end holiday, they planned to celebrate taehyung's birthday and new year's in one of the closest country from korea and had plenty of family dates with their lovely son.
their first destination was kyoto public aquarium with many beautiful water creatures to see. taehyung had put on ponyo raincoat on jeonghoon, much to the kid's happiness. as they arrived to the aquarium, jeonghoon raced ahead from taehyung and jeongguk's grips on his hands because of his excitement. jeongguk had to run after him and pick him up so the boy wouldn't get lost.
"we're going to meet the whale shark, jeonghoonie," jeongguk sang, excitedly. like a strong alpha he was, he carried his boy in one hand, while the other one held taehyung's hand. unbothered by the weight, he swung taehyung's hand in motion.
jeonghoon put his little hands on his puffy cheeks, eyes shining in awe. "we're going to meet the whale shark," the boy copied his dad's words repeatedly. he entered the aquarium with his heart racing.
huge transparent glass tanks of aquarium filled with extravagance amount of different fish and water creatures greeted them. the views were magnificent that the jeon's couldn't stop gawking with their mouths opened. the aquarium were kept very clean and transparent; colourful kelp, seaweed, seagrass, corals, algae, and other sea plants decorated the water and functioned as the home for the fish and oxygen suppliers. the light was dimmed and quite dark, but it highlighted the tanks and generated some kind of blue glow that it made them looked more majestic than possible.
there're a few small crowds of what looked likely elementary students, but most visitors were family and couples. the atmosphere that blanketed the whole area were warm and very welcoming.
a school of fish swam on the huge tanks that stood from the floor to ceiling. "jeonghoonie, there're so many fish!" taehyung exclaimed, pointing his finger to his right. jeonghoon had whined to be put down, so the boy immediately ran to stand beside taehyung in front of the groups of probably hundreds of fish.
"hello, fish!" jeonghoon shouted in giddiness, clumsy words tumbling from his little mouth. "please guide us under the sea!" his parents laughed at his adorable talkativeness.
suddenly something caught jeonghoon's undivided attention as the boy gasped and ran from his previous position. taehyung and jeongguk followed him to where jeonghoon pointed a white sea shark swimming closely to the school of fish. it seemed like jeonghoon was caught in the shark's charm with how his eyes sparkled and mouth gaping in awe. "shark!" jeonghoon but screeched in pure joy, jumping up and down.
"oh, there's a shark!" jeongguk cooed. "he's going to eat the fish! jeonghoonie, what should we do?"
"run away. shark's following," jeonghoon whined dramatically, his butt getting lower and lower as he got more mesmerised with the view above. "fishie, run! the shark, the shark!" it was so cute when jeonghoon looked sincerely sad for the fish, if only he didn't run a few seconds later to find the shark whale, forgetting the shark already.
"woah, look, it's so big," taehyung said. they arrived at a smaller tank containing a few of small sharks, giant stingrays, and the ocean sunfish. "it's as big as our jeonghoonie," the omega giggled when he saw jeonghoonie pouted at the big creature.
"look, jeonghoonie," jeongguk stole the boy's attention to the other tank. "it's said this electric eel can kill a horse!" jeonghoon's mouth gaped open in surprise, but soon he took off from his dad again to another tank.
